In this world races such as human, elf, dwarf, and so on just don't exist, all that exists are monsters. In this world evolution and power is everything, now monsters can evolve a few different ways, first by defeating enough monsters and eating their flesh, second option is by being granted power from a much stronger monster, third is by being granted it by a magic item or outside force, and fourth is by killing and eating the flesh of a monster of higher evolution. After a few evolutions, monsters will gain more humanoid forms, but each monster evolves differently. It is common for most to evolve the same way, such as group of monster birds that hunt together, but evolution is determined by what they kill or how they evolve. If a slime absorbs more fire monsters than it does earth monsters, it'll be granted a more fire based evolution.
