Each hunter is born from different clan, and which clan they are born into determines their abilities, kinda like a naruto type thing. The clans each are trained and taught to fight monsters, since they are the only ones with the powers to do so. It's because each clan carries the blood of a different monster through them. A long time, thousands of years ago, the first set of hunters used dark magic to absorb monsters, now the clans are all their descendants. A large group of people see the clans as abominations, and hate them solely for just existing.
