Wyatt stood before the mirror in his bathroom and took one last look at his outfit before everyone was set to leave. He'd brought his Thor shirt, which was a striking red color with the classic Thor illustration covering his chest. He hadn't worn the shirt in a while and smiled at how it fit a little more snug than it used to. If there was one thing he could say about the breakup with Brian, it had certainly kicked his workouts into even higher gear than they already were.
"Looking good, fanboy," Allie said from the doorway.
"I see Elizabeth came through with a shirt for you," Wyatt said as he looked at the Spider-Man shirt she was wearing.
Allie grinned really big and stepped into the bathroom to ruffle Wyatt's hair. "I'm really excited," she gushed.
"No you aren't," Wyatt laughed, knowing that Allie's interests didn't involve anything remotely related to Comic-Con; she was doing this for him because she knew how much it meant to him. "But I appreciate it all the same."
"You better," Allie said as she hopped up onto the counter and watched Wyatt run some grooming cream through his hair. "Maybe there will be some really hot cosplayers there for me to chat up," she said.
The San Diego Convention Center was an absolute zoo when the four of them arrived. Representatives from every known fandom were in attendance. Wyatt lost himself in the overwhelming excitement, quickly immersing himself in the crowds of fans. Cosplayers of varying talent were in abundance, with many of them portraying their favorite Avengers.
"Look at that one," Elizabeth said as she pointed. "He looks a lot like Thor."
Wyatt followed her gaze to see the cosplayer, who had chosen to dress as Thor. He grinned. "Yeah, if I smeared Vaseline over my eyes I wouldn't be able to tell the difference," he laughed. "The costume is neat though."
"Okay, we need to get over to the Marvel section," Darren advised as he steered the group in the correct direction.
Wyatt walked with his friends, his attention being snatched in several different directions until they came upon a massive crowd of fans waiting for pictures and autographs with the stars of the films. There were so many people it would have been impossible to even get a glimpse of what was going.
"Too bad we can't see them!" Allie grumbled, cursing her short stature.
"It was worth a try," Wyatt said.
Darren looked at the girls and winked. Then, without saying a word, he pulled a lanyard from his pocket and promptly put it on Wyatt. Wyatt looked down at the laminated card that hung from his chest and read the words: VIP Pass.
"Are you kidding me?" he asked as he looked back up at his friends.
"What are you waiting for, man?" Darren asked. "Get in line and go meet your man!"
Seeing the amount of fans was, as always, a very humbling experience for Chris. He could lose himself in being the gregarious film star, happy to smile for every picture and sign every autograph. He could easily assume his goofy and happy-go-lucky persona. On this day he found himself enjoying the process even further because it helped him get out of his head, something he needed after so much brooding and internalizing.
As the fans lined up to take photos with him, Chris scanned the crowd, taking in all of the costumes and enjoying the energy of the place.
Then his eyes fell upon a familiar sight.
Standing in line- his line, to be precise- was Wyatt Hudson. Chris was so shaken by his presence that he almost forgot to smile for the photo currently being taken with a husband and wife and their baby, who they'd dressed up as Thor.
