Wyatt and Miley returned home to find that a pretty big group of people had convened at the house. The cricket game had been set up and everyone was just standing around having some drinks. Wyatt immediately spotted the girl, who was standing with Chris and his friends. She was a buxom girl with long blond hair, an obviously fake tan, and that kind of energy that screams 'I need constant attention'. Even from his vantage point he could see the desperation oozing off of her as she attempted to posture herself so that the others would always look at her. She kept running her hand through her hair as if she was trying to draw attention to the fact that she had hair.
"Oh, gawd, she's one of those hands through the hair girls," Miley sighed. "I'll have to give her a scrunchie or I'm going to scalp her."
Melissa joined them as soon as they stepped out of the car, her arms folded over her chest. "I'm so sorry you're having to put up with this, Wyatt. I know you and Chris are in an impossible situation, but this is fucking ridiculous. And don't get me started on that atrocious fucking bikini she's wearing."
"She better watch out playing cricket," Miley said as she assessed the woman's incredibly skimpy bikini.
"No kidding," Wyatt agreed. "One wrong move and we're all going to see what she's made of."
Melissa rolled her eyes. "Chris told me he's pissed at his friends. But he can't say anything without giving himself away. I fucking hate this. I wish he'd just fucking announce it to the rest of the fucking world already. You don't deserve this fuckery."
Wyatt laughed and gave Melissa a hug. "I love how protective you all are being. But this is fine. It's temporary. I just have to keep telling myself that." He then smiled mischievously. "But if she tries to touch my man, I'm going to beat her to death with a cricket bat."
Chris spotted Wyatt and Miley the second they pulled up to the house. He'd been in the midst of discussing a business idea he and Zocchi had been scheming for a while about a fitness app when the rest of the group arrived.
The girl Aaron had brought was named Jasmine, and she's brought a few of her friends with her. The second she'd been introduced to Chris, she'd begun to shamelessly flirt.
"This is so exciting," she had said as she laid a hand on his forearm. "Thor is, literally, my favorite superhero."
Chris made noncommittal but not unfriendly smalltalk, all the while thinking to himself this girl has no clue who Thor even is. Can't even spell Thor.
He noticed the way Jasmine tried to show off her body for him and felt the stab of annoyance. He was annoyed with her and his friends. But mostly he was annoyed with himself and the situation he was in. So when Wyatt had shown up it was like spotting a lifeboat while adrift at sea. And he wanted to swim to it more than anything in the world.
Rather than immediately come down to the beach, Wyatt and Miley had gone into the house. Chris was about to cook up an excuse to go into the house and sneak a kiss when Melissa walked up and smiled at him.
"Where's Wyatt?" Liam asked.
"Oh, he's getting changed into his swimsuit," Melissa explained. "He said he'd be right out."
"Wait, you mean Wyatt Hudson?" Jasmine asked.
"Yeah, the one and only," Melissa said.
Jasmine, who now had one of her friends standing on either side of her- all of them wearing equally revealing bikinis- sighed. "He's so hot."
"Yeah, he's totally hot," one of her friends- a redhead named Amber- agreed.
"But he's gay," the third girl- a brunette named Summer- said as if she were revealing bad news.
