The watcher could barely disguise his rage as he watched Wyatt's apartment windows from his car. His visitor had arrived and he'd known it was Chris. The way he'd kept himself hidden had alerted him. That, and the very obvious physicality.
He clenched his jaw so tight it began to throb.
An unknown amount of time passed before the watcher saw another familiar face. Brian. Intrigued by this turn of events, he'd stepped out of his car and entered the building. Taking up a hiding space around the corner, he'd listened in as Brian confronted Wyatt. The bite in Wyatt's words had been exciting for the watcher. Such a strong little thing. But dating Chris Hemsworth was probably a rather emboldening experience.
Brian had retreated with his tail tucked between his legs and the watcher smiled from his place in the shadows. A lesser man- that's what he always thought of Brian. But Chris? That was a different story. Still, there was one thing he had that Chris would never have- being the last to enjoy Wyatt's living flesh before he claimed his very existence. Made him his forever. Forever part of him.
The watcher smiled.
When they returned to Wyatt's bedroom, Opal was sitting on the bed, right in the center.
"And who do we have here?" Chris asked as Opal took a few uncertain steps toward him and sniffed his hand.
"Oh, that's Opal; she runs things around here. She's shy."
Opal accepted the chin scratches Chris gave her. Then, after rubbing her face against his hand and head butting it a few times, she hopped off of the bed and wandered away.
"Well, she approves," Wyatt said.
Chris pulled Wyatt to him. "Well, I'm glad both of your pussies approve of me."
Wyatt's cheeks immediately flushed and he moved to hide his face.
Chris reached for his hands and pulled them away. "Don't. I like making you blush. I think that may be my new favorite thing."
"What am I going to do with?"
"I have many, many, ideas."
"Well, you're going to need to let me rest up first."
Chris helped him out of his clothes. "You should always be naked with me when we're alone," he explained as if he were stating a fact. Then he got into bed, pulled the blanket back and beckoned Wyatt.
"You're the most physical man I think I've ever met," Wyatt chuckled as he slid in next to Chris and was immediately wrapped up in his arms.
"Well, we Aussies like to get physical," Chris said with a shrug.
"'Let me hear your body talk, your body talk'," Wyatt sang in a sleepy voice.
"Sleepy boy," Chris whispered into his hair.
Wyatt smiled, stretched out and then curled into Chris. As he started to drift, he almost asked Chris what they would do tomorrow. He stopped himself, knowing that whatever they did, it would have to be in his apartment.
It won't be like that forever, he told himself. Someday things will be different. And I'm the meantime? We'll just pretend we intended to spend the weekend in. One day at a time.
When Wyatt had fallen asleep, Chris listened to his soft little breaths in the dark and felt a storm of conflicting emotions hit him all at once.
Deciding to take everything one at a time, he focused on the negatives first. He wanted nothing more than to be able to be a full boyfriend to Wyatt. He'd only ever had men who were half-available; he deserved so much more than that. And Chris loathed the idea of being like the others were- even if the circumstances were different. And, in the same vein of feeling like half of a boyfriend, he wished more than anything that he could wake up in the morning and take Wyatt out for breakfast. The fact that he couldn't do something as simple as that only compounded his feelings of inadequacy, circumstances or not.
Wyatt let out an adorable little whimper and nuzzled into Chris, which prompted him to shift his focus to what was good. He had this gorgeous, wonderful man in his arms. Every time he looked on his eyes he saw the possibilities, not the obstacles. Wyatt didn't see him as half, and it wasn't simply because of who he was. That thought warmed him. For so long it had been clear that the majority of the people who had come into his life weren't in it for the right reasons. Everyone had an angle. But Wyatt was different. Holding tight to that thought, Chris slowly drifted off to sleep.
