"I really thought I'd seen the nerdiest thing I've ever witnessed," Allie spoke loudly over the upbeat techno music that blasted throughout the large party room. "But this is the nerdiest thing I've ever witnessed," she added as she spied a clutch of party goers who were dressed as the cast of Star Wars.
"What, you aren't having a good time?" Elizabeth asked.
"Oh, I'm having a good time," Allie clarified. "I think you guys may have converted me to the Marvel fandom after all. I mean, can we talk about General America?"
"Captain America," Darren corrected her, his eyes rolling. "Can you believe her, Wyatt?"
Wyatt's attention was focused elsewhere. In the distance a group of Marvel cosplayers were comparing their outfits. Among them stood a tall, ruggedly handsome man dressed up as Thor. The costume was pretty accurate, and if Wyatt squinted his eyes in the dim lighting he might mistake the guy for Chris Hemsworth, though not quite as tall and bulky.
"See someone you like over there?" Darren asked as he elbowed Wyatt in the ribs.
"He's cute," Wyatt said with a shrug. "But I'm not here to hook up. I'm sticking to my guns on my stance with men. Besides, I don't want to bark up the wrong tree."
"Nothing wrong with testing the waters. You can still have fun," Darren reminded him. "Focusing on friends and family and yourself doesn't mean you can't date around. Doesn't have to be serious."
Wyatt shrugged again and looked over at the cosplayer. This time, the guy was looking back at him.
"Go over and introduce yourself," Elizabeth said as she swatted him on the butt.
"I don't think a Thor cosplayer is going to compare to the real thing for our Guppy," Allie laughed. "Not after the real deal swept him off of his feet."
A streak of confident brazenness took hold of Wyatt. He was on vacation at Comic-Con. He'd gotten his picture taken with Chris Hemsworth. Hell, he'd actually touched the man. Why not live it up? "You know what?" he said to the others. "I think I will go and introduce myself."
"You go, boy," Darren said with a big grin as they all watched Wyatt walk
Wyatt moved through the crowd toward the group of Marvel cosplayers. As he moved, he focused on the Thor cosplayer, paying attention to his body language and mannerisms. A smile graced his lips. Sometimes you could tell, other times it was anybody's guess. He'd been wrong before and sometimes the best way to determine anything was to just make a move.
"That's an awesome costume," he complimented as he approached the cosplayer. "Did you make it or have it commissioned?"
The cosplayer grinned, his attention pulled away from the group he was socializing with. "I built it with a friend," he explained as he showed off the suit, turning in a slow circle. "Took forever to get it right."
"Well, you did great. It looks authentic," Wyatt said as he moved closer and tentatively reached out a hand and touched the shoulder armor. "Is it comfortable?"
"Not really," he said with a chuckle. "Honestly, I'm looking forward to taking it off," he said with a suggestive smile.
"I can only imagine. I can't wait to get out of these clothes and I'm not even in a costume," Wyatt said as he moved near enough to convey interest. The guy was certainly handsome. He had a great head of hair, just a little darker than Chris's, and a big broad chest and shoulders.
And arms for days, Wyatt mused. Though he noticed that this guy had nothing on Hemsworth. Maybe it wasn't such a good thing for me to meet him; he might have ruined me for other men, he thought with a grin.
