After finishing dinner and dessert, Chris led Wyatt by the hand up to the bedroom where Wyatt had some candles waiting to be lit. Chris was just removing his shirt and unbuttoning his pants when Wyatt finished lighting them. Their spicy, sexy scent filled the air. Then, in the flickering candlelight, Wyatt began to undress as well.

"Come here, you," Chris growled as he stepped closer and helped Wyatt out of his clothes. He stared down at Wyatt, taking in the sight of his naked body, illuminated by the candles. He slowly ran his hands down Wyatt's sides before cupping his ass and kneading it.

Wyatt began to take the lead, kissing him and gently maneuvering him toward the bed. "Lay down," he whispered between his kisses. He straddled Chris's lap and leaned forward to kiss up and down his throat.

"I'm so sorry about tonight, Guppy," Chris repeated.

Wyatt put a finger over his lips. "No more apologies," he said with a smile. "You think that because you can't be openly gay that you're somehow inadequate as a boyfriend. But you're wrong. You've given me so much. So much more than anyone else ever has. Until you, I never felt..." Wyatt looked away, his eyes now distant. He smiled and looked back at Chris, who was hanging on his every word. "I never felt like I mattered to someone."

Chris took Wyatt's hand and kissed it. He sat up and wrapped his arms around him, pressing his lips into his neck and slowly rubbing his hands up and down his back. The intimacy and warmth of the moment was hypnotic. Although sex was coming, Chris was content simply holding onto him for now. He leaned back and looked at Wyatt's face, studying it like it were the most beautiful thing he'd ever laid eyes on.

Wyatt felt an overwhelming emotion rock him and he suddenly felt like he could cry. But not out of sorrow. A war between his rational and irrational brains kicked up. Say it, he told himself. No, what if it scares him? Do you see the way he's looking at you? Does he look scared to you?

Chris smiled fondly and held Wyatt's face in his hands. He watched the turmoil brewing in Wyatt's eyes. Say it to me, he thought. Tell me.

"Chris," Wyatt whispered in a voice that almost sounded afraid. "I'm in love with you."

Chris stared at Wyatt, his face very serious. He searched Wyatt's eyes.

Well, that's it, Wyatt thought. Time to pack your bags and find a hotel. Party's over.

A slow smile appeared on Chris's face and he used his thumbs to catch the tears that were rolling down Wyatt's cheeks- tears he hadn't even noticed he was shedding. "You've given me things I never thought I could have. Opened my eyes to the sort of man I want to be. I was sleep-walking until I met you. Wyatt Hudson, I am head over heels in love with you."

Chris's voice was so thick with need and feeling. Wyatt felt ridiculous as he began to cry in earnest.

"I can't believe how lucky I am to have you in my life, Wyatt. I'm so lucky. So lucky I get to call you mine." Chris grinned and rested Wyatt's head against his chest. He stroke his hair and kissed his head. "I'm right where I belong, Guppy- with you."

Wyatt took refuge in Chris's arms, warm and safe in his strong embrace. It was a surreal feeling, loving and being loved. He'd sampled this feeling in previous relationships, but it had never been like this. With the other Chris it had been high school love- the sort that isn't based on anything real. With Richard it had been one-sided. With Brian it hadn't been real at all because the man he thought he cared for was a facade. But with Chris it was so strong it felt as if he had been enveloped in a sort of soft warmth. It wrapped around him and entered every pore, permeating him and leaving him so blissful that nothing from the past hurt.
