Wyatt and Chris sat in silence as Chris drove away from the restaurant. Lost in his thoughts, Wyatt felt clashing emotions. He was happy that one of Chris's oldest friends had been so receptive to the news. Still, the fact that Aaron had walked out angry couldn't be overlooked no matter how good the conversation with Zocchi was. Wyatt could tell that Chris was doing his best to cover his disappointment with good humor. He didn't want Chris to bottle up his feelings about the situation because he'd already spent so much time sweeping things under the rug, but he didn't want to push him if he wasn't ready to talk about it. Opting for actions rather than words, he leaned over and rested his head on Chris's shoulder.

"That went about the way I expected it to go," Chris admitted. "I figured at least one of them wouldn't be happy about it. Oh well. At least they're mad because I lied and not because I'm gay, right?"

"That's true. And maybe after he's had time to think about it and let it sink in he'll be more open to talking." Wyatt had a thought and paused. "You don't think he would say anything to anyone, do you?"

Chris shook his head. "No, he won't," he said with certainty.

When they got to the house, Wyatt let Chris undress him right in the hall, just after the front door clicked shut and was locked. He watched Chris's expression as the older man's hands traversed his naked body. He could see the emotion churning underneath and knew that Chris was distracting himself from the hurt as well as all of the pressure he was feeling- both internally and externally.

"You have to be one of the strongest people I've ever met," Wyatt suddenly said, taking Chris's face in his hands.

Chris gazed down into Wyatt's face with a mixture of emotions playing in his deep blue eyes. "I don't know if I agree with that."

Wyatt shook his head. "It's true. What you're dealing with. It's not easy."

"It's my own stupid fault though." He paused and brought his hands to Wyatt's waist. "I know this isn't easy for you either. And I'm sorry."

Wyatt stood on his toes and silenced him with a deep kiss. "One day at a time," he whispered. "And I'm sorry too. I know you said I shouldn't, but I can't help but feel guilty."

"The only thing you're guilty of is waking me up from this stupid nightmare I've been living while I tell myself it's not one. I can't tell you how grateful I am to you for helping me find myself."

Wyatt was stunned by the deep feeling of Chris's words.

"Now," Chris said as he picked Wyatt up and wrapped his legs around his waist. "What was it you were saying earlier about me tying you to the bed?"

Wyatt blushed a little as he clung to Chris's shoulders. "I don't remember saying anything of the sort."

Chris shook his head and flashed a big smile. "Why don't I take you to the bedroom and refresh your memory, then?"

Wyatt touched the exposed skin at the neckline of Chris's v-neck. "I think that's a very good idea."

As thanksgiving drew nearer and production for Cruel Summer came to an end, Wyatt grew more excited about getting back home. Although it meant being apart from Chris, he was overjoyed to be back in his childhood home and surrounded by friends and family. It had been far too long since he'd been back in Hesperia.

"You're going to have a great time," Chris said as he held Wyatt against him. It was the morning of Wyatt's flight home and they were saying a private goodbye in the house Wyatt had been staying in.

"I'm so excited to see everyone," Wyatt said. He restrained the urge to say he wished Chris could be there as well. The man had been giving him so much and he knew he would just have to keep showing patience.
