The sheer amount of people, flashing lights, and reporters beckoning for stars to turn this way or that was almost overwhelming for Wyatt. Luckily, Chris had coached him on what to expect and how to handle it.
Thinking of Chris made Wyatt take a look over his shoulder for what felt like the millionth time. He spotted Chris several feet away with Liam and Miley beside him. Not wanting to draw too much attention, Wyatt quickly turned his head back and focused on smiling for the cameras.
"Look this way, Wyatt!" The photographers called out.
"Having fun?" Jamie asked as she walked up to him and gave him a big hug.
"This is...insane," Wyatt gushed excitedly.
"You better get used to it; you're going to experience a lot of these," Jamie predicted with a big smile. Then, with a the comfort and ease of a person who was incredibly accustomed to these sorts of events, she took Wyatt's arm and steered him toward some reporters.
"Jamie! What are you looking forward to about this movie the most?" A reporter called out.
Jamie looked at Wyatt with a huge smile. "I'm looking forward to this guy's debut."
Unable to find any words, Wyatt simply grinned for the continuous flood of pictures.
"Wyatt is majorly talented," Jamie went on. "Make sure you keep your eyes on him. He's going to do very big things."
Suddenly, Wyatt found that the focus was very much on him. Questions ranging from what he was wearing tonight to his experiences filming the movie assailed him and he fielded them with surprising ease. As he spoke, he could hear several people crying out for Chris, Liam and Miley to pose for pictures. He briefly turned to look at them and fought the urge to smile at them. Pretending indifference wasn't easy, especially since he and Chris had confessed their love for each other not long ago. Still, the experience of his first red carpet event was enough to give some balance to his emotions.
Chris did his best to keep from constantly staring at Wyatt as he walked the red carpet several feet ahead of him. Wyatt cut a sexy figure in his suit, and the watch he had given to him gleamed in the flashing lights. He walked with such a poise and confidence and Chris couldn't help but smile. He knew Wyatt was incredibly nervous but he wasn't showing it.
Wyatt looked down at the watch Chris had given him. and grinned at it. Before leaving for the premiere, Chris had taken Wyatt aside and, after a big kiss, slipped the watch onto his wrist and clasped it. "Fits perfectly," he'd said as he stared down into Wyatt's face.
The watch was easily an entire months' rent and then some, Wyatt realized as he looked at it on his wrist. "Thank you," he had mumbled as he stared at it in awe.
"Can't wait to watch you," Chris then said with a big cheeky grin. "See what I did there?"
"You're such a dork," Wyatt teased before kissing him.
Armed with Chris's love and the intense excitement that coursed through him, Wyatt entered the theater and took a seat among his costars. The huge theater was immediately filled to near-bursting. The lights darkened and the screen lit up as trailers were displayed. Wyatt sat completely still, his nerves firing off as he realized for the first time that he was not only watching himself in his first movie, but with a massive crowd of people. Being on The Olympians or in theatre productions had been one thing, but this was something on a much larger scale.
Chris was seated several rows away from Wyatt but was able to see him easily. Every cell of his being wanted to be next to him, holding his hand.
"He's so cute," Miley whispered to Chris, who smiled knowingly.
