A Chance Encounter (Chris Hemsworth X OMC)

Happy Birthday

Throughout the week, Wyatt could feel himself growing more and more excited for his upcoming birthday. Having made some sort of peace with the way things were between Chris and him, and getting more comfortable with the way things were going with Cruel Summer, he was beyond ready for a night of celebration.

"I'm so mad that we aren't all together to celebrate with you," Elizabeth complained when Wyatt called her.

"I know, but when I come back home we'll have even more to celebrate," Wyatt explained.

"I know! My Guppy's first big movie! And you're the star!"

Wyatt still couldn't believe his good fortune. There were times when he had to sit back and just breathe when he thought of how far he'd come in such a short while. He also had to try to ignore that voice in his head that told him there was an abundance of pressure on his shoulders with this project.

"Don't think of it that way," Chris said as they FaceTimed a couple of days before his birthday."

"It's hard not to though. This is the first time I've been the main star in a movie. It's on my shoulders. All of the emotional scenes involve me or are focused on me. If I don't do a good job..."

"Wyatt! Listen to me- you're bloody brilliant. And you're going to be amazing. Just have a little faith in yourself."

Wyatt took a deep breath and sighed. "Okay, I'm calm."

"Hardly," Chris observed. "Try not to worry so much about that for now. Instead, just think about how much fun we're going to have on your birthday."

"What are we doing for my birthday, by the way?" Wyatt asked.

Chris shook his head and wagged a finger. "Nope. No spoiling the surprise."

"Does the surprise involve you dressed in your Thor costume?"

"There's a strong possibility."

"With the hammer?"

"Both of them," Chris said with a lascivious grin.

"At least let me know how I should prepare. Should I wear anything in particular?"

"It'll only come off anyway," Chris said with a wink.

Wyatt spent the day before his birthday focused entirely on work. There were several pretty emotional scenes that he had ahead of him and he found himself channeling past experiences and the current situation with Chris into his performance.

"This is really good stuff, Wyatt," the director complimented when the scene between the main character and his father concluded. "Really, man. You're kicking ass."

Wyatt was on cloud nine for the rest of the day, and the day of his birthday began very much the same way. Chris FaceTimed him to say happy birthday and to give him some reassurance. His previous concerns about his ability to carry a film were alleviated and he was beginning to feel more confident in himself. That, along with the multitude of birthday wishes he was receiving, was enough to keep his good mood going.

When Chris had explained that he would be away from the set for a day, Taika and the others had wiggled their eyebrows at him.

"Ah, he's found a lady, has he?" Taika had teased.

"Is it Jasmine?" Zocchi asked after a fit of laughter.

"Fuck no, mate!" Chris said before turning to Taika. "Any chance I can take a Thor costume with me?" He asked with a mischievous grin.

"By all means! I'll even throw in a hammer or two for you to take!" Taika laughed. "Just don't let her tire you out too much! You've got a lot of work ahead of you!"
