"You mean to tell me you broke both of your arms?" Chris asked as he leaned across the table, his face illuminated with laughter.

Wyatt nodded his head. "I sure did. Darren and I thought it would be fun if I rode on his handlebars. Except we didn't plan on hitting that bump in the trail. So I go flying off of the handlebars, and Darren goes flying off of the seat of his bike. He broke his nose."

"Where were the girls in all of this?"

"Screaming like they were in a horror movie," Wyatt laughed. "Because not only did I break both of my arms, but I also landed in this huge thorn bush. So I had all these cuts from head to toe."

Chris shook his head. "Daredevil."

"The best part is that a few weeks later when we were all over at Allie's house, I asked her mom for something to drink and she looked at me and said 'Wyatt Hudson, are your arms bro-' and then stopped, because she realized what she was saying. I looked at her and said 'are my arms what Mrs. Mack? Broken?!'"

Chris laughed again, a deep, sexy rumble that emboldened Wyatt to keep talking. He liked that he was the cause of the Aussie's mirth. His southern accent became more pronounced and Chris found it irresistible.

"That was the first in a trilogy of awful summer events."

Chris raised his eyebrows. "Oh, what were the other two?"

Wyatt took a sip of his wine and then rested his chin on his hands. "Okay, so the broken bones happened the summer before our sophomore year. The summer before our junior year was when we were camp counselors at Camp Spirit Head."

"Interesting name," Chris said as he slipped his foot out of his flip flop and rubbed it along Wyatt's shin.

"So that was the summer that Darren and Elizabeth broke up. Which was problematic enough on its own. But then- and this is a name you can't mention in front of Elizabeth- Rebecca Hamblin came into the picture."

"Arch nemesis?"

Wyatt nodded emphatically. "To this very day. So Rebecca was obsessed with Darren. Long story short, he ended up losing his virginity to her that summer. Elizabeth was so mad she punched Darren in the face and broke his nose- again."

Chris shook his head. "She seems so laid-back though."

"Oh, she is about everything except Rebecca Hamblin. Rebecca actually owns a bakery across the street from Elizabeth's restaurant. They have this whole turf war thing going on. It's hilarious."

"So what happened the next summer?"

Wyatt laughed and Chris knew he was in for a good story.

"So the summer before our senior year, Allie wanted to lose her virginity."

"Virginity seems to come up a lot," Chris pointed out.

"In our class it was common knowledge that Nick Parker was the guy you went to if you wanted to lose your virginity. He took, like, two thirds of our classes' virginity. We all called him Nasty Nick."

"Did Nasty Nick take your virginity?" Chris asked mischievously

"Uh, no. He did not," Wyatt corrected him.

"Who did?"

Wyatt flushed. "There's not nearly enough alcohol in my system for me to tell you that story."

Chris slyly reached for the wine bottle and topped Wyatt's glass off as he continued the story.

"The only issue was that Allie's parents used to be incredibly strict. So we had to sneak to make it happen."
