Nene's POV
As i stared back at my reflection in the mirror, i began to feel very nervous.
A part of me wanted to wash off my make-up, change my dress to a comfy-wear and stay at home... but, it's L.D's birthday today.
It will be terrible of me to miss his 'big' day... i'll never forgive myself if i missed it.
I sighed heavily as i dropped my make-up brush in its case.
"Lord, please give me strength." I muttered slightly aloud.
"He definitely will." Lola retorts as she steps into my room.
"You heard me?" I smiled, as i turned to look at her.
"Of course, i did. You were so loud that it echoed in the entire house. I heard you say it from all the way... downstairs." Lola teased, as she giggled.
"Hmm! You heard me... from downstairs? Indeed! Why are you exaggerating?! Tell the truth and shame the devil... you were peeping AND EAVESDROPPING! Naughty girl!" I threw my tissue box at her which she dodged perfectly.
"Thank your stars that this tissue box didn't hit me. It would have been the end of you today. Your Olami wouldn't have recognized you today." Lola picked the box and tossed it aside.
"Tell the truth and shame the devil?!... are you still in kindergarten or nursery school?! That's what my teachers usually tell us back then, in order to scare us to tell the truth. They'll say, 'when you lie, you are a devil's child so, tell the truth and shame the devil.' I can see that you are still trapped in that nursery school world. Big baby!" Lola teased.
"OMOLOLA!!" I yelled playfully.
"Yes, darling! Can i help you?" Lola sang lovingly as she replied.
"Don't make me wring your neck! You are getting on my nerves!" I got off my vanity chair and aimed at her neck.
"Hold up! Before you get too carried away trying to kill me, i need you to remember that we are both all made up, dressed and ready to go to YOUR OLAMI'S party. You don't want to be late... do you?"
Lola made a whole lot of sense. Once we start our childish play, we'll mess up our outfits and make up. I sighed and sat back on my vanity chair.
"Well, that means you owe me... and i'll get back at you when i return." I replied as i turned to face my mirror.
"I guess you meant to say, you'll get back at me after a week! Have you forgotten that you'll be going on a hot romantic trip with your dearest boo, from the party? By the time you get back, you'll still be engrossed in cloud nine so much to even remember that there's a girl called 'Lolly' over here." Lola teased and stressed the way i usually call her name.
"Haba! Don't overdo it... I don't stress your name like that... I never speak with a nasal sound, whenever i call your name! Naughty girl!" I giggled and playfully rolled my eyes at Lola.
"Good to see you lighten up. You looked so tensed when i walked into your room. Talk to me. What's going on in that mind of yours?" Lola said with a straight face.
"Umm. To be honest, a part of me doesn't feel like going to this party. I mean, don't get me wrong... i'd love to be there... but each time i remember what you said... that... that his birthday party is usually too formal... with the 'crème de la crème' guests attending... i... i kinda... feel like not going there. I don't want to embarrass myself or my family... when i get there... umm... i've never been to a very formal gathering." I took a deep breath after i ended my rant.
