Nene's POV
I woke up and realized it was daylight already. Lifting my head off L.D's chest, I groaned.
"Arrr! You messed with my phone alarm again!" I punched his chest and rolled over.
I grabbed my phone and set the alarm back to it's usual time.
"It's Sunday! A weekend... you need to rest... that's why i..."
"Please, don't mess with my phone alarm again! Now, because of your action, we are going to be late to church! You made me miss my devotion time... i missed it yesterday and now, today?!" I rolled my eyes at L.D and stomped off into the bathroom.
"I meant no harm! I wanted you to rest some more. I'm sorry..." L.D yelled after me.
"I need you to understand that i take my faith seriously! I don't joke with my faith, Please!" I yelled back from the bathroom.
I applied some toothpaste on my toothbrush and began to brush quickly. L.D came in to join me then he wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, drawing me close to his embrace, he whispered into my ears:
"I'm sorry...i didn't mean to offend you. You have every right to be upset with me... i crossed the line and i'm so sorry for doing that. Huh."
Without turning to face him, I stopped brushing my teeth and stared back at him through the mirror on the wall and with my mouthful with toothpaste, i said playfully:
"Are you apologizing like this or trying to squeeze the life out of me?"
"Huh?!" L.D repiled, lifting his head and meeting my gaze in the mirror.
"Uh huh!" I replied, spitting the foamy paste into the sink and i smiled at him.
L.D chuckled and tickled me.
"Geez! You just gave me a fright! Seriously, i thought you were really upset with me." He said, turning me around to face him.
"I was! I still am! I believe God comes first in all i do and i set out time to meditate and have a quality moment with him everyday. Today, being a Sunday, is one of my most treasured days to serve God wholly. I need you to be accepting of it and respect that." I said, slightly pushing L.D off me and i walked over to the shower.
"Ok. Noted!" He replied, folding his arms and watching me get into the shower.
"I'm not really into all these so called religious stuff... i can't even remember the last time i went to church... i think... um... let me see... i think i last went to church the week my dad went away." L.D said
I stopped bathing and we stared at each other for a long time.
"Wh..what?!" L.D asked slowly, breaking the long silence between us.
"Did i say something wrong?" He continued to ask, looking perplexed.
"Um... No. No, you didn't... um.. i was just taken aback... um... how long ago was this?" I asked then i continued taking my shower.
"Um... my dad left us when i was 12yrs... so, it's like years... i really don't... wanna remember those..." L.D choked on his words and he suddenly stopped talking.
"Um... I... i'll be waiting for you outside..." He spoke up after he'd composed himself then he left the bathroom.
Strange! This is the first time i've seen L.D get so touchy and emotional. His parents' separation must have been so hard on him. I wish i know the best way to comfort him.
