Chapter 20

Nene's POV

"▪▪▪You womanize a lot, i bet you run after anything in skirts or dresses! You act like you are so cool and above the law! You iritate me! I never want to see you again! In fact, if you see me coming from the right, please, take the left. Don't speak to me, don't touch me, don't even make an eye contact with me! Stay far away from me!!" ▪▪▪

I left Ola standing at the driveway and walked into the house. I was so livid and relieved at the same time. I was livid because he played me for a fool, making me think i had a criminal record at the CPRU and that I'm paying for an offence which he, in fact, initiated in the first place. He derserves all those words i said, for making me waste my precious time to meet up with him three (3) times a day, everyday for several Months!

I was however relieved that i was free and my life will go back to normal, i was free from thinking of how i'll come up with new ways to write and read the damned apology to L.D everyday.

"Did you have to talk to him that way? You shouldn't talk to anyone like that much less talk to a man that way! That was so rude of you! What's wrong with you, Nenny?" Lola said, folding her arms and giving me a stern look.

"What! What's wrong with how i spoke to him? If you know what he just told me, i bet you'll also be very pissed at him." I replied, as i walked to the couch and sat down.

"I heard all your conversation with him and yes, i'm pissed at him for what he said he did! But the manner in which you lashed out at him is so wrong!" Lola said, as she walked to the window and pointed outside and said:

"Just look at the way he is crouched on the floor... your words really broke him! And to think he went through a lot to save you yesterday, only for you to be rude and treat him this way! I'm not happy with you. You need to go back out there and apologize to him!"

I walked over to join Lola at the window, Lola left my side immediately, looking upset. I peeked and what i saw made me feel bad. L.D was crouched on the floor and he held his chest as if he was squeezing it. He slowly got up, walked to his car and drove away. I felt a lump in my throat as i pulled down the curtain and walked towards Lola.

Lola, still looking upset, shook her head and went up the stairs to her room. I went after Lola trying to speak to her but she ignored me.

"I'm sorry Lolly. What he did is unforgivable." I said, as we both walked into Lola's room.

Lola picked a fashion magazine, she laid down on her bed and began to flip through the pages, totally ignoring me.

"Lolly, please, don't ignore me. You know i feel bad whenever we quarrel or have a misunderstanding." I continued but she still ignored and kept on flipping through the pages.

"Ok, i'll try and apologize to him." I said, as i sat beside her.

She slowly closed the pages and set the magzaine down on the bedside table and said:

"Better. Don't try to apologize... you MUST apologize to him sincerely! Look, I'm really not a fan of L.D but considering how he went all the way to keep you safe from that useless Kunle and his friends, i'll take his side today. Without L.D's help, you'll probably be in a whole lot of 'traumatising mess' right now."

"I don't understand. What do you mean by 'traumatising mess' and what did Kunle do that L.D had to keep me safe from him?" I asked looking confused.

"So, you really don't know?! Did you even wonder how you came home with L.D and not with Kunle? Who took you to that party in the first place? And how did you end up in L.D's house, misbehaving and trashing his valuable home decor pieces? Look, this is what L.D told me when he called yesterday..." Lola sat up on the bed.
