Chapter 44

Nene's POV

All through our ride back home, L.D kept on making fun of Lola's reaction to Kunle's 'speech'. L.D's attitude really got on my nerves so i simply ignored all his comments and looked out the car window to admire the scenery as we drove past.

As soon as we were at his place and the car came to a halt, I quick alighted without waiting for him to open the door. L.D got out and quickly ran to catch up with me at the front door.

"Hey, hey, hey. Hold on, babe... Angel, why are you upset?" L.D held my hand and pulled me back.

"Huh? Why the attitude? Are you upset because i made fun of Lola?" He asked slowly.

I rolled my eyes at him and said:

"Uh..mm. it's upsetting because you're joking about a serious issue..."

"Oh, come on! Don't tell me you fell for those lame words of that jerk? He's bluffing and trying to scare you both and you fell for it." L.D interjected.

"You know juju is real and we..."

"What fucking juju is that?! Are you not a Christian?! Why would you even entertain such a thought that 'juju is real'? Where is your faith in Christ?! So are you telling me that your everyday constant devotion to God is all a charade!!" L.D said firmly.

There was a long silence between us. After a while, L.D sighed and said:

"Look, you don't need to be scared, ok. Every single thing he said won't happen. His words are harmless...just count them as words from a toothless and clawless lion. A lion without its fangs and claws can never attack its prey no matter how hungry it is. So please cheer up... we've got a long two weeks mid-semester break... it's going to be you and i all through... Let's make the most of it. Ok." L.D drew me closer and kissed me.

L.D slowly pulled away from our kiss and opened the front door.

"I'll be right back. You know my room... let me get your things from the car..."

"Oh dear!... what do i do? All my things are in Lola's car... she left us in a hurry... i had no time to take them out." I placed my right hand on my forehead while i stood with my left hand akimbo.

"Don't worry, we'll go shopping before we head for the club." L.D said sweetly.

"Why go through all that stress when we can give Lola a call to send my clothes through a dispatch rider. There are many courier companies here that handle intra-city deliveries. I'll tell her to call one of them and have my things delivered to me."

"Hmmm. Ok. If you say so. Left for me, if i were in your shoes, i'll simply go and buy every single item to replace them..."

"Really?! That's a waste of time and money. Besides, Lola and i just bought most of those clothes at the Lekki mall so, why should i go back and buy another set when i can simply call up Lola and tell her to deliver my clothes?" I replied.

"Alright, alright..., you win. We will call Lola and have your things delivered meanwhile, let's go into the kitchen... i had my mum's chef prepare some special tasty dishes for us and that's why i left campus very early. I also had to stock up the pantry, and made sure my house keeper cleaned the house properly. You know, this is your second time of coming here. I wanted everything to be in place before you arrive. I told you that this break is for you to be with me stress-free. No doing of the laundry, washing the dishes or even cooking. I've instructed my mum's chef to deliver our meals every single day... fresh delicious meals, everyday. I want us to have the entire mid-semester break to ourselves." L.D pulled me closer and caressed my cheek with his forefinger.
