Chapter 54

Nene's POV

Five (5) days went by quickly, Lola and Tona came back from their romantic trip. Lola was so elated as she narrated her experience at the resort. I, in turn, told her how Moji and the private nurse took good care of me in her absence. Moji had to go back to Lola's family home since her services were no longer needed.

Two (2) days after Lola got back from her trip, the University resumed its lectures. The doctor certifed that i was fit to attend lectures but i had to visit my therapist frequently.

Lola and i drove down to school and as soon as we arrived the lecture hall, i was greeted with numerous questions like:

"Where is L.D?" , "What happened to your neck?" , "Why didn't you come with L.D?" "Nene we heard L.D is with Lola now, is it true?" "What's going on? Is L.D now dating you and Lola? It's all over the news!"...

I got so upset as they kept throwing their silly questions at me back and forth. I glared at them and didn't say a word. The nerve of these nosey girls!!

"Um, Excuse us. Please make way for us to pass ooo. L.D is fine. Nothing is wrong with her neck and i'm not dating L.D. I have my own boyfriend... please, can you all excuse us, we have a lot of work to do! Try and make yourselves useful by engaging in productive things rather than to gossip all day! Mind your business, please!! Thank you for your concern!" Lola replied abruptly as she led me up the stairsteps to my seat.

"I don't believe this! Why in God's name are they asking me how L.D is doing? Am i his 'keeper'. I hate it when i keep hearing his name! Errr! It's so annoying!" I threw my backpack on my table as i voiced my displeasure.

"Relax dearie. Don't get upset. You were both always together around campus. It's strange seeing you walk alone now. I guess that's why they asked these questions. Though, i didn't like the manner in which they asked them. Please, sit down and forget about all they've said." Lola soothe my back, comforting me.

I decided to take a walk, get some fresh air and clear my head before our first lecture begins.

"Lolly, i'll be right back. I need to get some air." I said slowly.

"Ok. Are you sure you'll be alright going alone? Do you want me to accompany you?" Lola asked with so much concern.

"I'll be fine." I smiled.

"Ok." Lola smiled back.

I walked out of my Lecture hall and as i walked past L.D's lecture hall, i had the urge to peep into the hall to see if he was there. Sadly, he wasn't there.

As i made an attempt to leave, i saw Soji walk towards me with a stern hateful look as if he was coming to hurt me. I stood my ground and waited till he got to where i was.

"Were you checking his lecture hall to confirm if he's truly dead?! You heartless bitch!" Soji growled.

"What?! No, i didn't! What are you talking about?!" I stared at him, looking shocked and trying to understand what he meant.

"What am i talking about?! You have the nerve to even ask that stupid question after what you've done to him?" Soji yelled.

"Look, I don't understand what you mean by all you are saying!! If you have something to say to me then, go ahead and say it! Stop beating about the bush and talking in riddles! You know what, i think i should leave. I can't deal with this outburst of yours!" I retorted and i made an attempt to leave.

"Come back here!! You tramp! How dare you walk out on me like that?! Look, i'm not Ola! I don't take rude shit like this! You will stand here and listen to me and you will only leave when i tell you to! Witch!!" Soji grabbed my right arm and pulled me back forcefully. In the process, i tripped and fell on the floor.
