Nene's POV

As days and weeks passed by, I kept meeting up with L.D three times a day. At first, it was a weary task to keep up, but with time, I got used to meeting up with him and I looked forward to seeing him every day.

My heart flutters whenever I'm with him; sometimes, I'll shiver whenever I glance and notice that he's been staring at me. I'll be so confused that I'll make mistakes while reading and trust L.D for who he is, he'll make sure I start all over or he'll delay me and make me spend more time than I should, with him.

Lola tried to plead with him on my behalf, to end the constant meet-ups but he refused to give in to her plea.

He made sure I spent hours with him every Monday, especially in the evenings. According to him, I have to make up for the time I missed since I spent my weekends at home with my parents and I was unable to read out his damned letter. I had no choice but to do his bid and get over and done with this punishment.

Lola and I became friends with Kunle Afolayan, the guy our study group leader assigned to me, to help me keep up with the tutorials. Kunle has a charming personality. He is smart, tall, witty, playful, and of course handsome.

Kunle and I often spend time together reading and hanging out. He got along with me more than he did with Lola and that's because Lola is a very reserved person. She hardly makes friends. Most students say she's stuck up and not so friendly.

I'm always quick to defend Lola whenever I hear them say such negative words about her because I know she isn't like that. She just likes to keep to herself more and that shouldn't be a reason for them to call her a stuck-up.

One day, kunle asked me why I always skipped lunch, and he noticed I no longer go for lunch with Lola. I had the urge to open up to him and tell him about L.D. I felt I owed him that explanation since he is my very close friend and he has told me so many private things about himself ranging from his upbringing, and his past relationships to his challenges and more.

We've been friends for some months now, yet I kept such an issue from him. I didn't want to keep this information from him; it would be so mean and selfish of me to do so. I told him all about L.D and he had a lot of empathy for me; he promised to always accompany me each time I meet up with L.D.

At first, I turned down his offer because I couldn't imagine how L.D would react if I were to show up with Kunle. After  Kunle persuaded and assured me that he would not interfere but view me from a distance, I accepted his offer to accompany me.

At lunchtime, I went, as usual, to meet up with L.D. Kunle went with me and boy, you need to see the glare L.D gave me as we approached the car park. My heart skipped for a second at the thought of how viciously L.D will react.

Kunle pulled my arm and turned me around to look at him then he said:

"Nelly, take a deep breath. You have nothing to fear. I'll be right here waiting. This spot is quite a distance from the point he is at. I won't interfere, I promise."

I felt my nerves relax after I heard Kunle's words. I swallowed hard and nodded in affirmation. Kunle hugged me before I turned around and kept on walking towards L.D.

L.D kept pacing about and at the same time he glared at me, then he glared at Kunle with so much anger. He was fuming and breathing so hard. As soon as I was a few meters close to him, he said through his clenched teeth:

"Who the hell is that guy? Why did you bring him along to our sacred spot? Why the heck did he hug you like that?! Huh?!"

"Sacred spot?! Which sacred spot is that? Look, He's my friend. My verrry close friend! Ok." I retorted, stressing the word 'very'.
