IT STARTED OFF SO WELL...

When Enzo woke up early to take the flight and poked out his face stealthily to the bedroom where Tarek slept, he knew it was the last time he would see him at home. In fact, it seemed each inch of that beloved body was a ghost actually. He just filled a circumstantial space and soon it would be no trace at all.

As he crept up on him felt an unexpected restlessness and almost shivered. He got the feeling he wouldn't have the opportunity to having him so near and with that rare intimacy in such a very long time or maybe nevermore. Taron poked his face discreetly out the door after searching him around the house.

- Here you are. Carl is waiting for us to go out. We are very much on time.

- I'm coming, darling.

Enzo moved nearer to his husband's relaxed face. When he chose to sleep on his side, he did most of the time, was filled with pillows. One in the lower part of his back and another between his legs. He had uncovered and Enzo covered him again with the duvet, as though he was a baby. Greta, always so in love with him, slept curling against the curve of his waist.

- I love you -he whispered to his ear grazing his lips on his earlobe, barely touching it.

Then he looked for the last time his beautiful face and stood up before Carl would come and get him.

Tarek had it all clear and when Enzo left, he felt he could breath better and even he felt lighter. As every morning the physiotherapist visited him. It's been two months since his injury and he advised him not coming back to normal within at least one month. He recommended him going to the swimming pool every day to strengthen his back but he couldn't use his bike and he could forget about carrying heavy loads.

His goal was clear. He would go leaving the pond ready. He couldn't stand leaving things half made. When everything would be finished, he would feel free at last. Or he thought so.

Tarek told Duncan his intention of finishing off the pond. Only left several stones to place but now he wasn't able to do it. Duncan hired the service of a boom truck just to not hearing Tarek anymore. That way, he was arranging which place and how every stone was placed. The work was hard because Tarek was very perfectionist and wanted the things exactly on his way. The stones couldn't be moved from where he wanted them to be placed.

- Thank goodness it's over -Duncan sighed relieved-. For a moment I thought the truck driver was starting to slap you.

Tarek just smiled and wrapped his arm round Duncan's waist, watching the finished pond. He was proud of his work and felt a secret pleasure floating around his stomach just imagining Enzo's face when he would see it.

- It's beautiful -Duncan admired it.

- Now it does, Duncan. Now I can leave.

- Think over it. It's still one month or more with rehab.

- And I will do it. Don't worry about that. All is fine. The physio and doctor Deacon are saying I'm getting better.

- Nothing is fine if you decide to go and leave us.

- I know Enzo had told you trying to hold me if I'm trying to leave. What did he come up with? A muscle paralyzer or something?

- Fuck off Enzo. I'm talking about you.

- Duncan, are you aware of you are saying rude words right now? Fuck off Enzo? -he couldn't help laughing above his deep sadness.

- I know you can fix things. Enzo can't imagine a life without you. Can't you see?

- He'll survive. He's a man of the world.

- You both are sick of the same disease. You can be stronger together.
