Not Happy

Tears sprang to her eyes.

No. She wouldn't cry, it wasn't worth it. He wasn't worth it. Though something still tugged at her heart refusing to acknowledge her logic. Jaehwa pushed the tears back, rapidly blinking her eyes as she stared heavenwards. Even the sky had turned a melancholic grey as the clouds hid the afternoon sun. How accurately reminiscent of her life it was. A bitter smile tugged at her.

A sudden rage boiled inside her from the pit of her stomach. He was doing it on purpose! She could tell and she was mad about it. She was mad at him but then why did she care? Why did she care? In the end, it was all her fault. Jaehwa pulled down her hair in frustration. "Urgh!"

There lay another innocent rock nearby which will soon become the victim of her boots. It was frustrating. He was frustrating.

"You didn't have to take your anger out on those kids. They did nothing wrong."

A voice spoke from behind her and Jaehwa froze.

Slowly, very slowly, she turned to him. There he stood just a few steps away from her, no trace of his usual smile on his lips. His face remained emotionless as if he felt nothing, but his eyes... They were the windows to the soul and she could see a tumult of emotions behind them.

"They didn't do anything wrong?" She bit out from between her teeth barely containing her anger. "Sure, they didn't. But you did."

Seokjin cocked his head, "Why?" He folded his hands, "I was just enquiring about your glorious relationship with Sahan. Why are you getting mad about it?"

"KIM SEOKJIN," Jaehwa warned.

"WHY ARE YOU GETTING MAD ABOUT IT HAN JAEHWA?" He raised his voice and the deep falsetto of his voice rang out through the isolated alleyway. Jaehwa stood still in stunned silence. Her eyes brows drew together and the red hot fury was now coursing through her veins.

"You don't know? You really don't know?" She let out a humorless laugh. "Of course, you wouldn't-"

"So what if I know? What does that change?" He asked softly. Jaehwa halted her face contorting to that of confusion before it smoothened out as the realization dawned on her. "Hold on, wait. You knew-"

"Whether I know the reason or not, what does that change?" He asked once again. Jaehwa could only breathe out weakly as she kept her tears at bay.

"Kim Seokjin."

"SO WHAT?" He yelled, his emotionless countenance fading away as he finally snapped. "WHAT DOES THAT CHANGE? IF YOU ARE SO MAD ABOUT IT THEN WHY DID YOU —"

Seokjin stopped himself just in time. He slowly closed his eyes and a humorless chuckle left his lips. Opening his eyes, his dark pools of brown that almost appeared obsidian in the dim light focused on her as he spoke.

"You know what?" He asked. "Enjoy your life."

And he left.

Jungkook frowned as he looked at his friend who stood staring at the night sky through his glass windows. Sighing, he got up from his couch and went to stand near him.

"Why don't you give her a chance, Hyung?"

Seokjin exhaled softly as he looked to his curious Jungkook who had his lips turned down in confusion. "From what you've told me, there seems to be something going on with her and you obviously know that too. Why don't you hear her out?"

Seokjin looked away back through the window to the city lights of Seoul in the distance. "You want to know why I'm not doing anything?"

Jungkook nodded eagerly and though Jin wasn't looking at him, he sensed his nod. "It's because I don't want to get hurt."

"Hyung..." Jungkook whispered looking up at Jin, his eyes softening.

"If I have learned one thing from all that I've been through, Jungkook, it's the fact that only I can protect myself from getting hurt." He explained, the tips of his fingers pressed against the cold glass as he watched the night lights. "I want to be selfish for once. I want to live for myself."

Seokjin breathed in a deep breath.

"I'm improving myself now. I'm trying to be a better person. I'm trying to move on. I'm happy with myself."

"You know," Jungkook interrupted him. "That's the thing. You're lying."

Seokjin faced Jungkook, his eyes hard and serious, trying to convey that he was sincere. "I'm not lying, Jungkook. I really am trying to move on-"

"No." Jungkook cut him off. "You're not happy with yourself."

Seokjin froze.

He let out a soft sigh. As expected of Jungkook. He always knew how to read his mind. He knew everything. Even the things he wanted to hide the most.

Seokjin looked back at the city lights once again.

"You're right, Jungkook." He whispered.

"I'm not happy."

In the board meeting room, everyone held their collective breaths, all of their eyes trained on the podium where the chairman stood behind the microphone clearing his throat. No one dared bat their eyes as if they were afraid that they would miss the judgment of Min Jae Yoon. Jae Yoon cleared his throat as he addressed his audience.

Both heirs were at the meeting room, their pale hands clasped around the handle of their seats and their knuckles were showing. To an outsider, Yoongi appeared cool, aloof, as if he didn't have a care in the world for the final judgment the chairman was about to pass, but if one were careful enough to look into his eyes, they would see the cold sparkle from within its depth. Sahan didn't bother to appear cool. He was desperate and it was showing well. As each second passed the tension in the room rose and it was almost palpable.

Jae Yoon took one final breath before he spoke into the microphone.

"I hereby name Min Yoongi as my successor to Holo.Co."

A/n: Haven't written an a/n in so long. By the way did you expect the succession of Yoongi? I guess it was pretty obvious, wasn't it? Sh*t's about to go down.
