Peace treaty

To no one's surprise, there was nothing in his car. He hadn't even specified what he wanted her to fetch. Cursing under her breath, she slammed the car door shut. Briefly, she wondered if he was just trying to help her but that was impossible, wasn't it?

She walked up to a nearby park bench near the parking lot and sat down feeling quite tired. The time was six-thirty and though the sky had dimmed, the night was yet to come. A few stars peeked out from among the clouds faintly and Jahewa watched the skies swinging her legs back and forth.

"You need to learn how to say no little Jaehwa."

She didn't have to turn her head to know who it was. "Go away."

Kim Seokjin walked forward and took a seat beside her ignoring her. She slid further away from him, folding her hands over her chest for no apparent reason but to annoy him. He was annoyed, alright?

"Do you really have to be so rude?" He asked. All he received was silence in response.

"You know what? I'm tired. I really am. I just don't have enough energy to fight with you. So can we please forget about this..." He pointed towards himself and then back at Jaehwa as he finished, "rivalry? At least for this retreat?" Jaehwa pursed her lips. She didn't seem too convinced. Of course, she wasn't. What little trust she had in him was already long gone.

Seokjin looked down, trying to think of a way he could convince her before a brilliant idea lit up in his extraordinary, smart and intelligent brain. He folded his hands over his chest and slowly twisted them in some strange way she couldn't quite follow with her eyes. Suddenly, he pulled out a white rose out of his arm. Holding it towards a surprised Jaehwa, he asked. "Peace?"

Jaehwa looked skeptically at the flower. She had every right to be skeptical about it. Last time she had received flowers from him, it hadn't gone well.

"I promise it's not a trick." He reassured, sensing her skepticism.

Hesitantly, she plucked the flower out his hand. Holding it at arm's length, she turned it left and right trying to see if it was safe. Seokjin chuckled at her mistrust in him. Content with the flower's safety, she quickly tucked it inside her pocket with an uninterested expression. "Fine."

He smiled suddenly feeling quite happy as he stared up at the sky just like her, observing the occasional stars that peaked out. Something about watching the evening sky was truly relaxing and it cleared his mind. Closing his eyes as he felt the warm evening breeze on his face, he asked her. "Why do you support Sahan?"

She turned her head to him, confused at the random inquiry.

"You know Yoongi is better fitted to own the company, right? He is more skilled and better at the job than Sahan. You know that deep down, don't you?"

A glare made its way on her face. "What do you mean why? It's my job."

She didn't deny his comment about Yoongi being better than Sahan, Seokjin observed. Pursing his lips, he asked. "Is that all? Isn't there anything more..." He trailed off, hoping that she would get the gist of what he was about to say. She did.

"If you are wondering if I like Sahan or something, don't even bother going there." Jaehwa instructed, pointing a finger at him, "Jieun asked me the same question and my answer is still the same. I don't have to have romantic feelings for someone to be loyal to them."

A small smile grazed his lips. However, he pressed the question once more. "Are you sure? You don't like him like that at all? Not even an ounce?" He pinched his fingers together indicating the amount.

"No." There was no delay in her response. "Besides, that's so weird. Secretaries and their bosses don't always fall in love. You've been watching too many k-dramas, Seokjin." Jaehwa shook her head as if she were instructing an incompetent child.

Something about her reply must have pleased him. His smile brightened. Bringing out his hands, he placed it on her head and ruffled her hair. She jerked her head in his direction. "W-wh-what?"

"What?" Seokjin asked, confused as she slid even further away from him.

Holding her hands in front of her in defense she asked, "What was that? What are you doing? Who are you and what did you do to that jerk Seokjin."

He shrugged. "We did agree on a peace treaty after all?"

Jaehwa slowly lowered her defense as if she still couldn't believe him. "You know, it's quite hard to get you. Even if you're acting, you change so suddenly, it's so confusing."

He smirked at her comment, leaning back onto his chair. "I don't know who but someone once said this and I think it describes me quite well." Turning his head to Jaehwa so that their eyes met, he quoted,

"I'm nothing but a mystery with a pretty smile, sweetheart."

Jaehwa raised her eyebrows at his quote. She opened her mouth as if to say something but then closed it. She didn't have a clue on how to respond to that. He had left her speechless. What am I supposed to say? Seokjin smirked at her lack of response. Before she could say anything to refute, he spoke up.

"You look pretty today."

She jerked her head up. What did he say?

Seokjin's eyes slowly trailed away from her to the figure at a distance making their way towards them. "Lee Jieun-ssi. Especially that pink sundress you're wearing. I love it!"

Oh, he was talking to her.

Lee Jieun suddenly smiled at his compliment, "Thanks Seokjin-ssi."

Jaehwa looked to her friend who was wearing a pink blouse and skirt and gaped. Quickly, inching closer to Seokjin, she whispered to him from between her teeth. "That's not a sundress." Jieun seemed too busy fawning over the compliment to have noticed the slip-up.

Ignoring her, Seokjin continued to compliment Jieun, smiling his signature smile. "And that hair clip on your head really goes well with the dress. Pastel colors really suit you."

"You know, silver is not considered a pastel color, right?" Jaehwa whispered to him watching her best friend suddenly turn a shade of bright red.

"Since we were all gathered here today for this retreat, I put some effort into my get up," Jieun explained smiling so wide that it must hurt.

"Aah, I thought so... hahaha..." Seokjin laughed as between his laughter, he bit out a reply only for Jaehwa's ears. "Shut up." And he went back to his awkward laughter.

All of a sudden, standing up from beside her, Seokjin asked Jieun. "Jieun-ssi, you want to go on a walk along the lake. It'll be fun."

"You want to go on a walk with me?" Jieun asked, unable to believe her ears and he nodded.

"S-sure."

Without wasting anymore time he walked away leading Jieun the way, sparking a conversation with her as she listened to him intently. Jaehwa could literally see the stars shining in her eyes.

She shook her head as she watched the duo walk away laughing and chatting with each other. Frowning her to herself she thought back to the conversation he was having with Jieun. Does he really not know what a sundress is?

A sundress would be something she was wearing. Looking down at her own sundress, she dusted it off as she stood up from the bench. Suddenly, she paused as a highly ridiculous thought occurred to her.

Could it be...

Jaehwa instantly shut down on her thought, shaking her head vigorously.

That's absurd.
