Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap
I feel fingers incessantly tapping on my shoulders.
"What?!" I whisper-yell to the pest behind me, sitting in English-Lit* class.
"Did you finish peer-editing my short story?" Jin asks me in a normal volume, which is fine, since our teacher said we can spend the class period discussing our short stories with one another and give each other constructive criticism. I turn my body more to face him.
"I was just making one last mark pointing out a grammatical error...Jin did you write this last minute?" I ask him, suspiciously.
"I sure did," he says proudly. "Come on, Y/N, I know you were entertained!"
"Yes, it was an adventure reading Mario trying to evade Wario's evil ways," I say to him, trying to sound like I wasn't impressed. Though, even if he half-assed this assignment and quickly wrote this before class, I will say I was thoroughly drawn to the humor in his story and his style of writing. As much as Jin acts like he doesn't try and he tends to procrastinate all the time, he has a brilliant mind I respect.
I wouldn't say Jin and I are close friends, but, for the past couple years, we ended up having a couple of the same classes which caused us to be around each other a lot. We'd end up in the same groups for projects, though sometimes it seemed he always made sure I was part of his group. I just assumed it was because he knows I pull a lot of weight when it comes to getting work done and we actually get along with each other.
Because we were usually in the same groups for projects, he'd be over at my house, frequently. I'd always offer for groups to meet there, and, more often than not, he'd be the last to leave. We'd end up working on other assignments together, or we'd talk about and listen to music since we had the same taste or we'd geek out over movies and books.
Oh, the kid also likes to get on my irritable side by teasing me, on purpose, and in turn, I bite back, which only seems to egg him on more. It's like another side of our so-called friendship. Obviously, we both know it's all in good fun, and we end up laughing with each other. Sometimes, we'll get flirtatious with one another, but I never think much of it. The guy is a serial flirt with all the girls around campus. In fact, girls would fall at his feet, because not only is he a top student, which is alluring in itself, but, all the girls find him extremely attractive.
I can see all the fuss because he is a handsome guy. But, because of his personality, I've always viewed him more as friend material rather than someone I'd date.
Plus, I don't think I'm someone he'd go for anyway, when he has all these gorgeous girls going after him.
"Anyway, here's your story back! Not much to fix!" I say, placing his paper on his desk.
"I honestly didn't find any errors on yours. And, also, I'm not surprised yours is a romance," he says to me, as he hands back my story. I can't help but blush from embarrassment that he read my sappy love story.
"I didn't think you'd be reading my story," I meekly say, my cheeks tinged pink. My blush doesn't go unnoticed by Jin.
"Hey, Y/N, don't be embarrassed! It was well-written! I like how it flowed and your plot is great," he tells me, while looking at me with sincerity in his eyes.
