A/N: Double update! Make sure you read Chapter 38 first!
Today is my ten year wedding anniversary with Jin. And, boy, has it been quite the adventure with that man by my side.
Jin and I are still both teaching at UCLA, but we are no longer assistant professors. We both ended up getting tenure! I was the first to receive tenure, and Jin received it the following year so we are now full-fledged professors. We love our jobs and I'm grateful we have each other as emotional support since we understand the struggles of teaching in our department. We are each other's anchors at work.
Actually, we are each other's anchors in general. He's my rock. We have weathered through so many ups and downs that life has thrown at us. But, together we are strong.
One of our greatest ups was when we had our twin boys, Eric and Jake, six years ago!
The road to having children was a difficult one for us. We had difficulty getting pregnant and I remember just being so discouraged. I won't go into the emotionally painful details. I'm just happy that I had Jin to keep me sane and positive during those years.
With the help of in-vitro fertilization, we had our beautiful boys. Those two are so precocious and hilarious. Jin says their precociousness comes from me and their humor comes from him.
It's been amazing being a family of four. We live in a beautiful neighborhood. The commute to the university is a little under a half hour, which isn't so bad. And, Jin's mom and Don, who is now his step dad, moved to be close to us after they retired. My mother-in-law insisted that she take care of the kids while Jin and I are at work. She's been a lot of help with picking up the kids from school and watching them until we get home. And, they always love to volunteer to babysit, allowing Jin and I to have some much needed dates!
A major down that we had to deal with recently is the death of Jin's father, one year ago.
About three years ago, we found out that his dad had lung cancer. Because of that, Jin reached out and rebuilt his relationship with his dad. He was hoping to have more years with him, so when he passed away, it was a tough time for Jin. All that I could do was to make sure our children and I would be there for him. He's been accepting it and healing from the loss, but he still gets sad because he wished that he let his dad be more involved in his life in the past.
He made a promise with me that he won't let that happen with our sons. He said he'll do everything in his power to be supportive of our boys with however they want to lead their lives and that he never wants to let them down. He also said he hopes to be the kind of dad that our kids will be proud of. I told him that it wouldn't be difficult because, in my eyes, he is an amazing husband and father.

We are currently at Yoongi and Tom's lavish home. Yoongi and Tom insisted on throwing us an anniversary party, and they definitely went all out with the decor and catering.
Speaking of Yoongi and Tom, the two of them adopted two daughters from China, Suzy who's now nine, and Alice, who's six. Both girls have albinism, and it's been quite the adventure for both dads to figure out everything they need to know to keep their daughters healthy.
I remember the night before the boys were set to fly to China to meet and pick up Suzy. Yoongi called me, beyond anxious and worried that he won't be a good father. He was worried but I told him that he spent so much time researching about albinism, such as looking into the best quality skin care products and ways to guard Suzy from the sun. He and Tom went wild with buying her plenty of proper clothing, hats and sunglasses. After a couple years of Suzy being in their lives, Suzy voiced how she wanted a sibling and Yoongi and Tom were actually wanting to grow there family more. So, they went through the tedious adoption process, once again, which was all worth it in the end because now they have their second gorgeous daughter, Alice.
Jenna and Hoseok also have a beautiful family. They have three adorable children of their own, two daughters- Janie who's nine, and Alexis who is five, Their youngest is their son, Lucas, whose three years old.
They are all in attendance here at our anniversary party. In fact, all our kids are running rampant playing with each other while we all keep an eye on them in the giant backyard. Our other friends' kids are also having fun with our children. One of them being a six year old girl named Allie, who has a crush on both Eric and Jake. The boys go to the same school and have the same teacher as Allie. The biggest kicker is that Allie is Jeongguk's daughter.
Yes, Jeongguk and I remained friends. I gave him space back then, and I thought we'd eventually just lose touch. But, because I remained friends with Taehyung and Jimin, Jeongguk and I would end up seeing each other often and we were able to stay close friends. In fact, Jin and Jeongguk have become close since they have a lot in common. Jin, Jeongguk, Taehyung, Jimin, and Jimin's husband, Namjoon always get together for poker nights or to watch sports together.
Did I mention that Jimin and Namjoon got married? Well, they have been happily married for three years now. No one expected it, but they make a lovely couple.
Back to Jeongguk. About eight years ago, Jeongguk met a woman named Chelsea. She's a special effects make up artist and she happened to be working on a movie that Jeongguk was an assistant director for at the time. It was kismet. Honestly, even I think Chelsea is a perfect match for him and I call her one of my closest friends now.
I look all around me and I'm grateful for the people in my life.
I look over to the man I call my husband, and I just feel like the luckiest woman.
