It's been a couple weeks since Jin and I had opened up to one another. And, since then, our interactions with each other have been amicable. It's refreshing, really.

Currently, Jenna and I are parking in front of the home of Namjoon's uncle and aunt since they're throwing a family gathering for his birthday. Namjoon invited me and since we've become good friends, I couldn't decline the invite. He told me I could bring a friend if I'd like, and I brought Jenna because I knew I'd feel more comfortable with her around. I have a feeling Jin will be there, and I'm not bothered by that, but I won't know anyone else, and since I can be socially awkward, it helps to have someone like Jenna by my side.

One of Namjoon's lively relatives lets us into the grandiose home and guides us into the giant backyard, where most of the guests are congregated.

Namjoon's relatives are very welcoming, showing us around and making sure Jenna and I each have a plate filled with food. A lot of the food is a mix of American comfort food, Korean dishes and Filipino cuisine.

Jenna and I find vacant chairs and sat next to who we learn to be a couple of Namjoon and Jin's cousins. They were pleasant to converse with. And, not long after, Namjoon finally spots us.

"Y/N! Jenna! You both made it!" Namjoon stops to stand by our chairs and both Jenna and I stand up to give him hugs and I hand him a birthday card with money in it, since that's the easy route and I didn't have time to shop for a present.

"Happy Birthday, Namjoon!" Jenna and I happily say in unison.

He joins us and his cousins, with his own plate of food and we discuss random topics such as the array of food, which Namjoon explains is the usual whenever his uncle and aunt throw gatherings since his uncle is Korean and his aunt is Filipino. I don't mind because I absolutely love having lechon along with some japchae, so no complaints here!

Namjoon eventually shows us around more and introduces us to relatives. We learn that his uncle who owns the home is the eldest, followed by Jin's dad, and Namjoon's mom is the youngest out of a total of five siblings.

It's now been about an hour into the party and I've come to find Namjoon and Jin's relatives to be completely delightful to be around.

But, I had to tear myself away from people, momentarily, because my craving for sweets hit me and here I am perusing all the delectable desserts, picking out the ones that make my mouth water and place it on my plate.

As I'm focused more on the desserts than I should be, I feel a tap on my shoulder. I slowly turn around and see Jin in front of me.

"Look at you with all the sweets! I see cream puffs, bibingka, some flan, and banana pudding...still such a sweet tooth, aren't you, Y/N?!" Jin smirks at me while looking at my plate.

"Hey, you're just as bad with the sweets as I was back in the day, Jin!" I counter back, remembering the times we would always crave something sweet and we'd go on so many dates and adventures where getting dessert was involved.

"Guilty! That's why I came to the dessert table when I first got here, and, it's pleasant that you happen to be in the same spot," Jin admits, as he beams at me.

Fuck, I forgot how captivating his smile is.

I watch him as he grabs a plate and quickly starts to fill his plate with an assortment of desserts. After he finishes, he turns to look at me.

"Why don't we go join Jenna and my cousins?!" Jin asks but not giving me much time to answer. I just followed him as he heads to the spot that Jenna, Namjoon, and their cousin, Hana, are sitting and chatting.

"Hey, Guys!" Jin cheerfully greets the trio as I settle in the seat next to Jenna. Jin grabs the chair close to me and sets it to sit right by me.

"Hey, Jin! Long time no see!" Jenna stands up, which prompts Jin to stand so they can briefly share a friendly hug. After they end the hug, they return to their spots.

"You and Jenna knew each other as well?!" Namjoon curiously asks Jin.

"Yes! We all went to school together. I've known Jenna since middle school and met Y/N in high school," Jin explains to Namjoon.

"Yes, Jin was the annoying kid Y/N and I had to tolerate all through out high school!" Jenna says in an obviously joking manner, throwing a cheeky smile Jin's way.

"You guys loved me around, admit it!" Jin answers back to what Jenna previously said.

"So, were either of you involved with Jin back in high school?!" Jin and Namjoon's cousin, Hana, innocently asks.

Jin coughs on a piece of his babingka that he was chewing on.

"Um...Jin and I actually dated for a little bit in college, but we were young and things happened," I simply try to explain. "Now, he and I, along with Namjoon, work at the same university and here we are now!"

"Wow, well maybe fate brought you back together!" Hana says to me, flashing a knowing look.

I was momentarily taken aback by her comment but I brush it off.

It's early evening now and Jenna and I just hit the road. Jin had walked us out and I have to say that he was a gentleman the whole time we were around each other during the gathering. And, we were basically in each other's company for most of the time we were at Namjoon's party.

To say that Jin is still the same sweet, respectable guy, might seem too good to be true, because you always assume exes to turn for the worse, but, the same Jin that I fell in love with is still there.

And, if I start developing feelings for him, especially since I see him all the time on school campus, then, I don't know what I'm going to allow myself to do with my feelings.

Do I want to go back to the person who first broke my heart or give him a chance if the opportunity presents itself? That is to say he would even see me and feel the same way.

A/N:

Hi, Worldwide Cuties! 😘🌹

I am Filipino-American and I try to incorporate a little of my culture as much as I can in my stories even in the smallest of ways.

I want to note, that in the following chapter, it'll be a month later, in November. So, if you realize on your own- yes, Namjoon's birthday in this chapter would fall in October, and not on his actual month (September). I just wanted to point that out!
