Ch. 18- Who's That Guy?

Y/N's 1st Person POV

"Thanks for bringing me lunch today, Vernon!" I tell the man who's standing in front of me right next to my office door.

Vernon stopped by during my lunch break, bringing ramen and takoyaki from my favorite ramen place. He asked me last night when he was over at my apartment if he could come by since his office isn't too far from the university.

"Of course! It was a perfect excuse to spend more time with you," Vernon admits as he smiles down at me.

"Well, great idea, Mister," I smirk up at him.

I wrap my arms around his neck as his arms snake around my waist. He places his lips on mine for a sweet lingering kiss.

"I wish it was already the end of the work day so I can just take you home right now and do unspeakable things to you." He whispers into my ear.

"Fuck," I whimper out. "Why don't you come over to mine tonight, Vernon?"

"Text me when you're home and I'll come spend the night?" He asks me in a seductive tone.

"I'd like that," I answer him back, biting my lower lip after.

"Fuck, Y/N, you're making it so hard to leave," he says, looking at my lips.

"The sooner you go back to work, the sooner the day will be over and you can do whatever you please with me tonight," I say to him, my voice full of lust.

"Deal," he replies, following it with another kiss. And, eventually I walk him out of my office and into the hallway.

"I'll text you when I'm heading home so you know when to head over," I inform him.

"Sounds like a plan. See you tonight, Y/N," Vernon says, pecking me on the lips once more, then he walks away from me and heads to the exit. As I stand out in the hallway watching him strut away, I notice Jin had just walked into the building and I'm assuming he saw my interaction with Vernon. Jin waves and I awkwardly wave back. I didn't want to interact with Jin at this very moment so I quickly head back into my office.

As I settle in my desk chair, I can't help but think about Vernon.

Vernon and I have been spending a lot of time together this past month since Jenna introduced us to each other, and I have been enjoying his company quite a bit more than I expected.

When I laid eyes on him the first time we went out, which was a double date with Jenna and Hoseok, I was unexpectedly mesmerized by him, physically. His smile is ridiculously captivating and I could just get lost staring into his eyes. And, his lips... don't get me started on his luscious lips. The first time I kissed him, which was our second night going out, bowling one-on-one, his lips were so soft and the way he kissed me made me weak in the knees.

Vernon is super playful when he wants to be and constantly makes me laugh. But, we also end up having deep conversations that we get lost in for hours. Needless to say, we've spent some time at each other's places because we really enjoy being around one another.

We did tell each other that we both want to take things slow since he's still getting over a break up with someone he was with for a significant amount of time and I told him I wasn't ready for a commitment.

Jeongguk is aware of someone new in my life since Vernon has appeared in my social media. He's called and texted, teasing me about it, but we've made the agreement that what Jeongguk and I have is also not serious. I don't think he's jealous based on his tone when I've spoken to him on the phone or through FaceTime. And, besides, he's got Cassie to occupy his time in Prague. Or, he can have any woman he wants. Jeongguk is a sexy man and he can seriously take his pick of any woman he wants to bed.

That being said, I'm not tied down. I'm free to see different people, as long as it's clearly communicated to the other party that what I'm looking for is nothing serious.

I'm not ready to settle down with anyone, long-term. I'm not sure I ever will be.

Jin's 1st Person POV

"Hey, Professor Kim!" Two female students greet me as I pass them by campus.

"Good afternoon," I cordially greet them back as I continue to walk and enter the building to head to my office after having lunch with Namjoon.

When I enter and start heading towards my office, I can't help but notice Y/N walk out of her office with a man. At first, I thought it was a colleague or a friend of hers until I see him kiss her.

Who is that guy?!

Is Y/N in a relationship?

Why do I care?!

Okay, maybe I'm slightly jealous.

Ever since Y/N has accepted being around me, we've been spending more time building a newfound friendship. Though, for me, I can't help but be reminded of all the qualities I fell in love with that I'm still very much drawn to when it comes to her.

Of course, she's changed a bit since then, but the Y/N that stole my heart is still there. And, seeing another man kiss her...well I'm not going to lie and say it doesn't hurt to see because it kind of does.

Do I wish it was me kissing her? Fuck, yes.

But, with what I did to her back then, will she ever trust me back into her life? Would she ever have feelings for me again, the way mine have been rekindling for her?

Maybe I shouldn't entertain this idea. I need to squash these feelings, especially if she's involved with someone. And, I just got out of a divorce with Candace. Even though that marriage was mostly out of family obligation, it has messed with my mind when it comes to relationships.

But, Candace was never the one...
