Y/n's day was going pretty well as she was relieved thinking that the creepy person was now gone and she would live peacefully. She finally had a shower without getting those uneasy feelings of being watched. It was in the afternoon when Y/n and her grandma were sitting in the living room watching television while waiting for Y/n's mother to arrive. As they sat there for hours waiting for her mother's arrival, it was already three in noon and she did not yet arrive. As it was getting late and they thought that she might have got stuck with some work or there might have been be traffic, they finally decided to have lunch without waiting anymore.

It was now around five in the evening and there was no sign of her mother. She was worried but nonetheless, she tried to stay positive. She had already tried calling her mom a hundred times but the line would never get connected. Her grandmother on the other hand was trying to stay positive as well; it was not the first time that Y/n's mother is running late, but the issue here is that she is not in a good state of mind due to the whole divorce thing and also her phone did not connect. As time was passing by, the ladies waiting for Y/n's mother's arrival were getting tensed.

"Should I inform the police?" Y/n asked her grandma; voice filled with worry.

"Let's wait for a couple more hours and if she doesn't show up then, we'll inform the authorities." her grandma replied while rubbing her palm over Y/n's hand; trying to calm her down.

The duo waited for two more hours in complete silence. The time was thirty past seven in the evening and it was completely dark outside. The thing that scared Y/n and her grandma the most was, the highway that Y/n's mother would take to travel the distance was empty most of the time and if not taken before the sunset, there was a high possibility of her being a victim of a really horrifying crime. After not being able to hold it in for long, Y/n informed the nearby police station about her mother. She explained everything that happened and in return, the police said that they will look into the matter. Although the police assured them that they will arrange a search party to find Y/n's mom and there is no need to worry about it, she and her grandma were still very much stressed.

After an hour or so while Y/n was still sitting in the living room with her grandma, they heard the police cars pull up in front of their house. Upon hearing the siren, they rushed out of the house in hopes to gain some information regarding her mother. As they went out of the house they saw two police officers wave at them; they call the cops inside their house and had a conversation.

"Are you sure Ms. Y/n, that your mom left this town and went back to yours?" one of the cops asked.

"Yes sir, as I told you earlier that my parents got divorced so my mom went to our house to get her and my things."

"If that's really the case Ms. Y/n, then your mom must have crossed the checkpoints on the highway, but no one saw your mom's car pass by."

"What- what do you mean officer?" Y/n's grandma questioned the cop.

"What I mean is that Y/n's mom had not crossed any of the checkpoints on the road that links this town to the other and there's no other road that connects these two towns. So what I basically mean is that she never left the town."

Upon hearing the explanation, Y/n and her grandma were flabbergasted. The situation was taking a horrible turn and the fact that her mom never crossed the checkpoints, meaning that she had been missing for almost about twenty-four hours left them in extreme terror.

While they were still sitting in the living room and the police were taking minute details about Y/n's mom, her grandma suddenly speaks up.

"There's one more thing officer. My granddaughter probably has a stalker who sneaks into our house almost every night and tries to attack her."

"Uh, I don't think it's really important now, as my mom is the first priority. So you-" Y/n was speaking but was cut mid-sentence by one of the officers.

"Tell me in detail."

On the demand of the police officer, Y/n reluctantly spoke up. She explained every single bit of her experiences to the officers and they seemed to be quite surprised as it was their first time listening to something like that.

"So, you're telling me that you didn't have the stalker or the intruder last night?" one of the cops asked to which Y/n just nodded. "Uh so, you know, by any chance do you think it has something to do with your mom going missing? Like, if you look into it, yesterday night when your mom wasn't home, you didn't even have the intruder; makes quite a sense, doesn't it?" listening to the whole thing and thinking for a while, Y/n and her grandma realized that could possibly be the case; it might happen that the intruder is related with the case of her mom going missing.

After discussing few more crucial points that might help the police get deeper into the matter and telling her to immediately call them if she sees the intruder again, the officers left. While sitting all worried in the living room with her grandma, Y/n decides to call her father. Although she did not want to talk to him as she thought it would be against her mother's will but she wanted to know what actually happened. She took her phone which was lying on the couch beside her and dialed her father's number. The phone rang for just a couple of seconds before the line went busy. She tried calling her father thrice more but every time the line would go busy after ringing for a couple of seconds. When she called her father for the fourth time, the phone was switched off; this was very unlikely of her father. She knew that her father can ignore anyone's call but he never once in his life had ignored his daughter's call even if he is in the middle of something really important.

As time was passing by and her father's behavior seemed very unlikely to her, Y/n started doubting her father. She was thinking that her father was responsible for her mom going missing. It was already time for dinner but none of the women had an appetite so they decide on skipping their dinner and directly headed to their rooms. It was just nine in the night, but Y/n already started getting those creepy feelings of being watched. Not paying much attention to it, although she was scared, she thought of just going to bed.
