As she was staring at the figure whose back was facing her, she saw him slowly turn around. Before she could even react, the lights in the kitchen suddenly went off, blinding her vision. She felt as if her legs were giving up as she found herself shaking due to fear. Within a fraction of a second, the man was standing just about a foot away from Y/n and she could feel him tower over her tiny frame. She was extremely paranoid would be an understatement here; if there existed some word that would explain her situation, the word paranoid would be a very mere one in front of it. Her hands were shaking; she could hear the metal spoon clinking on the ceramic bowl while his breaths continuously hit her forehead. She was so scared that her body gave up at last; the only thing she felt before passing out was a very strong arm wrapping around her body; properly securing her.
-----
She again woke up with sore muscles and her whole body was aching. She, even this time, did not remember what happened with her the previous night. She slowly sat up on her bed and looked around and saw the bowl that was playing hide and seek with her last night was placed on the bedside table. The food was completely untouched and it was kind of suspicious to Y/n. It has never happened that she brought food for herself and then slept without eating it and it also had never happened that one of her family members brought her food and did not call to wake her up to eat and even if they did, then why does she not recall anything? She just sat on her bed, staring blankly at the bowl and thinking what could possibly have gone wrong that she ended up not eating. She thought of shrugging off the thought and moving on with the day. As she slowly got down from her bed, she went to the closet to grab some clothes before heading to the bathroom for having a warm shower.
She was standing in front of the mirror while brushing her teeth with messy hair and still half asleep when she starts having this uneasy feeling of being watched. She looked around for a while to see if she has any stalkers but she could not find anyone. She shrugs off that uneasy feeling and continues with her work. After she was done brushing her teeth and she took a nice warm shower and in midst of it, she suddenly felt as if someone was standing right in front of the window outside the bathroom. It was still six in the morning and no one in her house was awake except but for her. Therefore she knew that it would not be anyone out of her mother or her grandma that is taking a walk outside the house early in the morning. She, for few seconds, halted what she was doing and looked straight towards the window, but she could not find anyone. She closed the shower curtain before resuming with her little in-shower concert.
She was now done showering and was all set to get out of the shower and get dressed before walking out of the bathroom. As she turned around to leave the shower she sees the same black figure stand just outside the shower; she could see the figure clearly as the shower curtain was really thin. She froze on spot for some good seconds not knowing what to do that is when she realized where she has seen this figure. She recalled how the past two nights went for her; she was seeing this figure roam around in the house at night and then would come to her room and would probably just sleep with her and she also recalled how those disturbing words were written on the mirror. She somehow gathered up courage and grabbed the curtain before opening it. As her eyes landed on the other side of the curtain, she saw the whole bathroom was empty; she saw no one. After finding herself alone in the bathroom, her mother's words replayed in her head. She now believed that she really was hallucinating as she seemed to be paranoid by the very first experience that she had with the black figure on their family dinner night.
Getting out of the shower, she hesitantly made her way towards the bathroom window with the towel wrapped around her body and looked around to make sure that she really was alone. After checking properly and not seeing anyone, she told herself that she was just assuming things and everything that was happening to her every night, was nothing but just hallucination due to her fear.
As she was out of the bathroom, she saw her mom and her gran sitting on the couch and seriously discussing some issue which she could not quite understand as she was standing a bit far from them. As she moved closer to where her mother and her grandma were sitting, she saw her mother crying.
"Mom, what happened? Why are you crying?"
Her mom just looked at her; lips quivering and tears falling out of her eyes continuously while Y/n just looked at her mom in utter confusion while expecting her to answer. Upon not receiving an answer from her mother, Y/n finally questions her grandma.
"Gran, what's the matter?"
Her grandma just looks up at her and says something that she could never imagine in her life.
"Your parents are divorcing." this sentence was enough to make Y/n lose her sanity. Never in her wildest of dreams, she thought that her parents would divorce each other. They were a happy family; they rarely argued over anything and were living their life happily. She could not understand what possibly could have gone wrong that made her parents come to the stage where they were thinking of letting go of this beautiful relationship.
"What?! What do you mean? What's the reason? Mom? Answer me!" Y/n was bombarding her mother with questions as the situation was very unsettling to her.
"Your dad said that he found someone else and that he doesn't love me anymore." Y/n's mom spoke with a sad smile. On the other hand, Y/n did not believe this. She very well remembers her father saying to her that he was planning for a family trip to Japan on her mom's birthday which was just a few weeks away and she knew that her father was planning for the trip for long; so there was no way that her father could easily fall out of love that too being in the middle of preparation for a trip to surprise his beloved wife.
Y/n sat there with her mom in the living room while trying to console her mother. She knew, no matter what she tries, the pain that her mom was going through was not easy to be reduced.
"I will go back to our house to get my things; I don't want to see your dad's face again. You stay here at your gran's house and I'll get your things as well. I'll leave tonight and come back by tomorrow evening."
Listening to her mother speak, she just nodded her head in agreement. Although she wanted to confront her father, she anyway suppressed the urge to do that as she thought staying by her mother at this phase would be better than going and having a talk with a heartless man.
