THIRTY-EIGHT

"Umm, please don't take them seriously. They always love to fool around." Jungkook said while driving with his eyes fixed on the road ahead of them.

"Oh yeah, sure." Y/n replied while nodding. Did her heart just ache upon hearing that his friends were just fooling around about his feeling?

'Were they not saying the truth?' Y/n thought.

"Uh- so- what were you doing at the hotel?" Y/n asked while looking at Jungkook who was very much concentrated on driving.

"Uhh, we had a night out kind of thing. So yeah, a night out. Yes!" Jungkook replied.

The whole car ride was awkwardly silent as none of them dared to speak after that. Jungkook was kind of embarrassed as his friends disclosed to Y/n about his little crush on her and Y/n on the other hand, was kind of a tiny bit hurt as she thought his friends were serious but Jungkook said that they were just fooling around.

They reached their residential building in about fifteen minutes and while Y/n was busy collecting her things, Jungkook quickly got out of the car to open the door for Y/n. Y/n was quite startled at the sudden stunt that Jungkook pulled but nonetheless, she politely thanked him for his sweet gesture and got out of the car while blushing like a moron.

"Umm, Y/n? Are you free today, uh- in the evening?" Jungkook asked while making his way out from the parking area while Y/n waited for him in front of the lift.

"Why do you ask?" Y/n questioned.

"So that I can take you out!?"

"Oh! I thought your friends were just fooling around."

As Y/n said those words, Jungkook felt his cheeks heating up. He tried so hard to hide his red-tinted cheeks but failed miserably. As they both heard the ding sound of the lift indicating that it has reached the ground floor, they quickly boarded it, and to add up to the thick, intense vibes between Y/n and Jungkook, the universe decided to put them in the lift alone.

Two of them stood in the empty lift awkwardly where one tried to hide his face out of embarrassment and the other tried to control her laughter. Jungkook never meant to say that his friends were 'just fooling around' but he did anyway because he did not know what Y/n would think of him. What if she rejected him? What if she thought that he was a playboy as he does not even know Y/n properly but says that he likes her very much? What if- Oh, there were many 'what ifs' and only cause of these questions, he did not tell the truth; little did he know the girl he talked about to his friends was also slowly falling in love with him.

Unlocking the door to her flat, she stepped inside her home when she heard Jungkook speak.

"So, five p.m. it is!"

"Yes, five."

With that said both of them enter their houses while trying to control their hormones in front of each other. Although both of them had an idea that they liked each other, they could not just bring themselves up to talk about it; they were still pretty shy when they were around each other.

Y/n thought of wearing something casual yet fancy; that was her style whereas Jungkook on the other hand was a completely different breed. He liked gothic clothes and almost always, he preferred wearing black or shades of grey. As the day was coming to an end and the clock was almost about to hit five, both of them were growing anxious. For Y/n, it was her first time going on a date, and surprisingly for Jungkook as well, it was his first. They have never fallen in love with someone before and as it was their very first time, the duo was pretty much nervous.

'What if I make a mistake and end up embarrassing myself?' both of them thought.

As the hour hand of the clock hit five, the doorbell of Y/n's house rang and she immediately knew who it was. Running to the door and opening it with excitement, she was met with his doe eyes that were looking at her with pure love.

"Hey! Are you ready?" Jungkook asked.

"Yes, just give me a moment." Y/n said and ran inside to grab her purse. "Let's go!"

After Y/n locked the door, Jungkook offered her a hand and they both made their way to the lift.

"Where are we going by the way?" Y/n questioned Jungkook.

"Uh, we are going to Jimin hyung's bakery. It's totally empty and there's no one to keep an eye on us so we can be alone and can eat as much as we want." Jungkook said while Y/n giggled.

"But, wasn't it under-"

"Yes, it was. But the maintenance work is done now so we will be fine."

"Jimin's not gonna say anything?"

"He was the one that came up with this idea." Jungkook spoke as he winked at Y/n. He himself did not know from where did he get the courage to wink at her, but he did anyway and Y/n was glad that he was making moves because if it was not for him, then anyone could tell that their relationship would have ended even before starting; that is how bad Y/n was at making moves.

The evening was going pretty well for the couple. They enjoyed themselves a lot in the empty bakery and as said by Jungkook, they did eat a lot of pastries and cakes. They made small talks here and there but at one point when they were talking about their families, Y/n did become a bit sad and Jungkook did notice the shift in her expressions. He asked Y/n about her family and she hesitantly told him everything; every minute detail of the incidents as well that happened in the past few weeks except about Taehyung. Hearing all of it, Jungkook was very much surprised as it was his first time hearing anything as such. He immediately tried to light up Y/n's mood and he could easily do that when he suddenly put whipped cream on Y/n's cheeks and ran away with Y/n chasing him through the empty halls of the bakery.

They had a lot of fun. They made sweet memories and Jungkook even pecked Y/n's cheeks and the emotion that rushed through their body at that moment was indescribable. After staying in the bakery for some three hours, they planned on heading home as it was getting late. Coming out of the bakery and getting into their car, they drove off towards their house without having any idea of what was waiting for them in the near future.
