The next morning, you entered the kitchen still half-awake and found Clint had made waffles. You smiled brightly when he handed out a plate of them, and took it to the dining table, sitting across Tony, Bruce, Steve and Natasha, who were animatedly discussing about some sort of weapons improvements.
No one picked up the topic of your family and you were glad about that respect of your privacy.
"Waffles!" Loki cheered with glee, entering the kitchen few moments later together with his brother. Loki sat down next to you and smiled softly wishing good morning. He devoured his plate quickly and reached his fork over to your plate to snag a bit of yours. You flipped your fork quickly and jabbed his hand with it, sliding your plate further away and casting him an obnoxious glare. You surrendered quickly when he pouted child-like back and you both burst out in a laugh.

When the breakfast was over and people started to rise up from their chairs, Rogers cleared his voice and got the attention of the entire table. "I expect you back here in one hour to get ready for the press conference."
"Press...what-?" You whipped around with a puzzled face. Natasha reached quickly your side "We need to announce your joining to the Team Y/N. Don't worry, it will be ok". You stared at her horror stucked.

Natasha peeked her head into you room after you had dressed with the knee-long elegant dress you had purchased together at the mall. She knew you would have been highly uncomfortable at the prospect of attending a press conference and didn't spoke a word before the time had come. Smart girl.
"Need help?" She asked kindly and shyly, wondering if you were made at her. You were not, of course. "Can you to do my hair, perhaps?" You were struggling to tide you long, still bushy air in a decent way since a while and you started be quite pissed off. She stepped in and reached your brush smiling wide. Some minutes after, your hair were styled in a perfect low knot and your makeup done. You shot her a sincere grateful look over the mirror. "Anytime" she replied cheerfully.
You both left the room to head downstairs and meet the boy. They were all looking so professional in their suits, apart for Thor who appeared to be dressed in a borrowed button-shirt slightly to tight to fit his broad chest. Loki came closer in a perfectly tailored black suit. You didn't had words to describe how good he looked on him. He wrapped an arm around your shoulders. "You'll be fine, lady Y/N, the Captain will do all the speech. You just need to stand at his side and smile. And I will be at your side as well." He told you reassuring.

The conference had been organised in the auditorium at the first floor of the tower, and you heard the buzzing sound of a murmuring crowd from outside the closed doors.
"Ready?" Rogers asked the team, placing his hand on the doorknob, even if the question was mainly addressed to you. You took a deep breath and nodded. Loki offered you his arm for formal escort, and you gladly grabbed it for balancing as you were wearing damn high heels to match your formal outfit. His presence was deeply reassuring and you silently thanked him for being such a gentleman.
The room was packed with people. As you and the team stepped in, hundreds of heads spun around, eyes fixed upon your suddenly very pale face. Flashes from the camera dazzled your view for a moment, but mercifully the procession was brief and Fury barked at the crowd to shut up.
Roger stopped at the podium at the end of the room, next to Fury, and you had to join him on his left, while the others took seat behind the three of you. You faced the crowd and remembered to kept your back straight, and playing it cool.
The press conference was really brief. Rogers did most of the talking as he was Captain America and people were well-disposed at listening when he spoke. He introduced you and said you would had resigned from your position at the Presbyterian Hospital and joined the Avengers. He also added how much Loki was handy in the team nowadays and that he had been appointed as your instructor. Fury said something complimentary about the usefulness or your role in the team, and that was all.
When the camera flashing started again and the crowd stood up, calling loudly your name with hands thrown in the air, Stark took the microphone and invited everyone to stay at the socialising party and let you sneak away before the press had the chance to cornering you with a storm of questions. Loki stood up and paced immediately at your side, offering again his arm to walk you to the backstage.
Natasha came closer and cheered your steady nerves, making you smile. Few moments later, Stark peeked his head in the backstage "Cmon, you need to join the party, it's in your honour you can't simply skip it!" he bid directly at you. You signed heavily but Loki took carefully your hand, and squeezed it gently before placing it again on the crook of his arm. You look up to him with a grateful look and he smiled back not adding a word.
Stark greeted you in the lounge room and lent you a glass of wine from the bar, winking. Thank you Tony, liquid courage is always an appreciated boost.
Fury came over to shake you hand and welcomed you properly in the unit. People kept asking you questions but Loki was really overprotective and always stayed nearby. The team never got you completely alone as Natasha, or Rogers, or Clint thankfully and wisely took Loki's place at your side when he had been interviewed about his new role as magical trainer. You were impressed at how good he was in talking with the press, appearing at ease in replying a lot of questions. Bruce was the shyer among you all, so he simply ducked out of the crow and lounged in the corner of the bar.

The partly slowly began to die out, but none of you was allowed to leave until the very end. When the last guest was gone, and the entire team was packed in the elevator, you finally gave a sigh of relief.
Emerging in the huge living room, you quickly sunk in a armchair, huffing heavily and kicking off your shoes. The team followed suit, as you were all quite tired and having the press around for such a long time had bothered more or less everyone in the end.
Stark brought some glasses and bottles from the bar and spread them on the small table before the couches and you had a toast in the honour of the day. Little talks rose up naturally, Natasha and Clint complimented about your nerves in getting safe and sound through your first interview, and Thor hugged you thigtly letting you know he was proud of you.
Everything went well.
Now, you were officially an Avenger.
[Here we are, the news is out and the press will talk about the new team member for weeks! Let me know in the comment if you heard about it in your local newscasts! XD]
