"He didn't bother to tell you, uh?" Thor came around, dropping to sit at the end of the couch, right beside Loki's feet. "He is half Jotun." He said simply, as that would have cleared the matter.

You casted him a rather angry, questioningly look. He raised his hands in defeat and explained himself better "He was adopted. His real father was a frost giant and he turns blue when he assumes his jotun form. Fire is definitely his weak point."

You gasped at his words and spinned around, surveying Loki from head to toe and thinking hard.
"We must lower his temperature, Thor. Now!" You bent over Loki and began hauling him upright again.
"Jarvis!" you told resolutely at the ceiling. "Yes, miss" the AI replied "Start to fill the bathtub in my room with cold water. The cooler you can."

"Let me" Thor told you, pushing you gently off the way and lifting carefully his brother again in his shoulder. Loki didn't complain this time, he just let out a ooofff sound in being lifted and felt silent, and quiet. You took Thor's hand and dragged him across the room, under the shocked glances of Natasha, Clint and Tony.

You stopped at the kitchen to scoop from the fridge as much ice cubes you could carry into a random big bowl, before dragging Thor into the elevator and out to the corridor that lead to your room. Shoving the door open, you rushed to the bathtub and tossed the ice into the halfway pre-filled cold water that was pouring at full speed out of the tap.

Thor gently set Loki down, immersing him in the water, without caring to undress him before. The visible bare skin of him turned dark blue at the contact of the cold water and he closed his eyes, letting out a moan of relief.

"I will go to explain the others. Will he be all right?" Thor asked with a concerned glance at his brother, who was shifting to sunk deeper into the tub, trying to immerse himself as much as possible under the water surface, laying just his head on the bathtub edge so to keep his face out of the rim. You nodded firmly at Thor, stroking Loki's hair out off his face. "I'll be back soon Y/N" he told you, a hint of hurt in his voice.

Thor left and Loki let out a soft sound. You stroked his hair until he relaxed, dozing off, and you continued to pet his hairs for what seemed a very long time, kneeling and sitting on your tallies, ignoring deliberately the cold tiles of the bathroom pressing hurtfully onto your shinbones.

When you finally bent over him and pressed your lips to his forehead, checking again his temperature, you found out with great relief it was back to normal. Loki shifted slightly at the touch of your lips, and moaned few weak, furred thus simple words out of his semi-unconsciousness, words that you were barely able to hear from his heavy breathed voice:
"l love you"

You heart exploded with emotion and tears immediately flooded your eyes, a couple of them falling down merrily and running across your cheeks and down right under your chin. "I love you too" you whispered softly, even if you were not sure if he could hear you.

You really didn't want to leave him like that, but you knew it was your duty to go and check the rest of the unit as well. It would have taken just few minutes and you would be able to come back very soon. So you reluctantly stood up from your uncomfortable spot on the floor and checked Loki's pulse and temperature once more before stepping out of the bathroom, crossing quickly the room and opening the door.

The exact moment your foot stepped into the corridor, your face smashed right into a broad chest you knew immediately was Thor's one. "Sorry, I didn't expect you standing right here" you told him huffing, taking a step back and pinching the end of your nose, which had suffered the worst of the impact. He just cracked opened in a half of laugh.

"I came to tell you the guys are fine. Is my brother feeling well?" He asked, looking down and staring directly in your eyes, a clear concern in his tone, seeking for you to be completely honest in the answer you would have given back. "I expect him to be fleeble for some time, but he is just fine. Wanna come to check?" You pointed behind your shoulders with your thumb, half turning on your heels and sticking to the side of the doorstep to give him better access to the room. "No that's fine, I think he would not be quite pleased for me to see him like that" he cracked the most sweet grin on his bright face.
