Spencer paced back and forth in the waiting room, evelyn's blood still on him. changing was the last thing on his mind at this point. "Reid." Hotch says as he walks up with the rest of the team, Penelope now with them. "how is she?" he asks. "I-i don't know, they took her back to surgery and they were talking in the ambulance that she lost a lot of blood and she might not make it, and I haven't heard anything and she's been in there for like an hour already and-" Spencer rants quickly, still pacing. "Reid." hotch says, giving him sympathetic yet stern look. Spencer immediately stops pacing and rambling, sighing heavily. "sorry. I just can't loose her. she's my best friend." he says "ouch. friend zoned." Penelope whispers to jj, everyone except Reid hearing it, him being too oblivious and side tracked.the team turns back to glance harshly at her. "sorry." she mutters, slightly embarrassed. "she's gonna be okay right? I mean she has to be okay." Spencer says, beginning to ramble again. "she's a strong girl, reid. she survived two whole years with that scumbag and when you guys got there she was still alive." Penelope sympathize softly, rubbing his back. "here, why don't you come sit down." she continues, guiding him away from the team and to the chairs, making him sit down and sitting next to him, keeping him company and distracting him while they waited for any news. distracting Spencer was a struggle and Penelope tended to get frustrated at times when he'd go on a rant about Evelyn or tell a story from their childhood, however, she had to remind herself that this was his best friend of 20 years they were talking about, not just some random girl. the team would come check on them every now and then, talking quietly and being careful as if the slightest touch or loud noise would break him, like he was glass. they team was scattered. some were sitting in the free chairs in the busy waiting room, some getting food, some outside needing some fresh air to escape from the stressful day, but Penelope and Spencer stayed in those chairs the entire time, not even getting up to use the restroom. they had sat there for a good 2-3 hours before anyone had come, asking if anyone was there for a 'Evelyn jones'. of course the team stood up, well at least everyone who's in the waiting room, which at that point was just Spencer, Penelope and Alex. Spencer obviously stood up the fasted, so fast he almost fell over. the doctor came over, Spencer immediately talking 100 mph. "is she okay? is she alive? can we see her?" he asked, the doctor laughing softly at the speed he talked. "she lost a lot of blood and will have a nasty scar, but yes, she okay and alive. and she's going to make it. she's not awake yet, but you can go in and see her. when she wakes up, she will be very weak, and probably will be for awhile, so don't force her to do anything she doesn't want to do." the doctor explains. "I can take you to her now if you'd like." he continues, the there of them nodding. "right this way." the doctor says as he leads them to evelyn's room. he opened the door, revealing a pale, lifeless looking Evelyn in the hospital bed, hooked up to an immense amount of wires. "let me or a nurse know if you need anything, okay?" he said, everyone nodding before he walked away, closing the door to give them privacy. Spencer immediately rushed over to the bed, pulling up a chair as close as humanly possible, holding her hand. "I'm so sorry, caterpillar. I should've never let you go undercover like that. I knew it wasn't safe." he said softly, hoping she could hear him. "caterpillar?" Alex whispers to Penelope, confused. "his childhood nickname for her. no one else can use it except him. he also calls her butterfly." Penelope explains. Spencer continued to apologize to her until the team brought him a change of clothes from his apartment. of course he denied the change of clothes at first incase Evelyn woke up, but then came to the realization he was covered in her blood and she probably wasn't going to want to see that. he changed as quickly as he could, immodestly going back to the same position he was in before, sighing softly and quietly waiting with her and the team until sleep inevitably overcame him, falling asleep still holding her hand and his head on the bed. by the time Spencer had woken up everyone else had other left, or gone out to the waiting room, knowing it'd be emotional once Evelyn woke up and wanting to give them some privacy for their reunion. Evelyn had woken up about an hour before Spencer had, smiling at her sleeping best friend, glad he was there. she noticed he was holding her hand and squeezes it slightly, Spencer squeezing back in his sleep. she laughs softly at the quiet snores escaping his lips, beginning to run her hand through his hair as he slept, thankful to be alive, safe, and back with Spencer. Spencer's eyes fluttered open as her felt a hand running through his hair, Evelyn smiling softly as he woke up. "hi earthworm."
