Evelyn had been in the hospital for a month now, Spencer practically living there with her. he went home every now and then when Evelyn forced him to because he need to change, sleep, shower, or eat. today, she was finally allowed to leave, and as excited she was to get out, she was terrified of going home. terrified of him being there. he knew her childhood nickname for Spencer and his childhood nickname for her. not to mention he also knew her biggest secret. that she had feelings for Spencer. the only people who knew that was Diana Reid (she just had that instinct), her own mother, and the girls of the bau- well technically all of the bau except Reid. not many people knew about the nickname as well. the same people that knew her secret + the rest of her family, but that definitely didn't include Michael Reyes. "Evelyn?" Spencer says, snapping in front of her face, breaking her from her trance and looking over at Spencer. "did you hear what i said." he asks, glancing over to her as he drove. it was a strange and rare sight to see Spencer drive, but he did when he needed to. she sighs softly, shaking her head. "no, sorry. my brain is going a million miles an hour." she said softly. he gives her his full attention as they can to a green light. "what's wrong?" he asks. she sighs and looks away from him before speaking, feeling as if he was going to judge her. "i think he was stalking me beforehand. he-" she cuts herself off and sighs before continuing. "he knew something very few people know. not even you know it." she said quickly, hoping he blows right past it and doesn't ask any questions. "and he knew- spence the light is green." she says, pointing to the now green light, laughing softly as Spencer quickly averted his gaze back to the road and driving. "he knew earthworm and caterpillar. only the bau team and our families know about that. and he 100% doesn't fall into one of those categories." she explained. "it was like he was obsessed with us, always talking about you to get under my skin, or at least try." she continued softly, her voice breaking slightly as she spoke. Spencer immediately turns the car around. "where are we going?" she asks, obviously confused. "the bau." he says simply. "when we found you, you were five minutes away from my apartment." he continues, glancing at her. "i was? that entire time i was just five minutes away and you didn't know?" she said, her words coming out harsher than expected. "that came out meaner than i expected it to. i'm sorry. it's not your fault, i mean, how could you know." she corrects herself immediately, seeing Spencer's face drop at her original statement. he whipped into the parking garage once they were there, parking in his usual spot. "stay close to me until we're inside, okay?" he says as he turns to her, beginning to get out. she nods, getting out as well, practically gluing herself to him. even once they were inside the elevator going to the floor the bau was on. they want in, Spencer immediately noticing the team was in the roundtable room. they quickly made their way to the room, standing in the doorway, Hotch immediately seeing them. "what are you two doing here? you're both supposed to be taking some time off." Hotch says, Spencer immediately talking after he ended his sentence. "he was stalking her." he says quickly. "what do you mean he was stalking her?" Hotch asks, raising an eyebrow. "he knew stuff about her, about us, that isn't common knowledge, and he kept her five minutes away from my apartment. i don't think that was a coincidence." Spencer rambles. "Reid. take her home. we'll sent an officer to her house for surveillance and security, okay?" Hotch says sternly yet sympathetic. "but i-we could help you guys catch this guy!" Spencer exclaims, walking into the room. "spence, look at her. she's terrified." jj says softly, nodding to evelyn who was quite literally breaking down. Spencer sighs and hugs her tightly. "please. i just want to go home." she says quietly through her sobs. "we'll find him. take some time off. you both need it." Hotch says. "go home. i don't wanna see you back unless it's urgent, okay?" he says, Spencer nods, walking out with evelyn and back to the car. he walks her to the passenger side, helping her get in before getting in the drivers side himself, driving to evelyn's house. they had arrived before the officer, evelyn hesitantly getting out and going up to her door with Spencer, unlocking the door and walking in. she sighs heavily. "it's cleaner than i thought it would be after two years." she says. "oh that's because it wasn't empty for that entire time. sometimes i'd come stay here when i really missed you. i made sure it would look like it did the last time you saw it." he said, evelyn smiling softly. "that sad, creepy, and cute all in one." she laughs softly. she walks over to the fridge, opening it, not expecting anything to be in it or everything being expired. to her surprise it was fully stocked, a big oreo chocolate cake (her favorite) being on the middle shelf. on the cake it says 'welcome home caterpillar'. she smiles softly and looks at Spencer. "you got me a cake?" she asks. her heart drops slightly when he looks at her confused, shaking his head. "no." he said. "why?" he continues. "there's an oreo chocolate cake in here that says 'welcome home caterpillar'." she says hesitantly. "don't touch it." Spencer says. she nods and closes the fridge. "i'm gonna go to my room, make yourself at home." she says, taking her bag with clothes she had at the hospital to her room. she opens the door, immediately dropping the bag as she saw what was on the bed. "Spencer?" she says, fear evident in her voice. "hmm?" he says, walking over to her. "come here." she said as he walked up, his face turning white as he saw what was on the bed. the clothes and shoes she went missing in. he clears his voice before speaking. "yea, i'll call Hotch."
