Evelyn was shocked at first, not knowing what to say. she turned around to face him, studying his face before speaking. "really?" she asked, a hint of hope in her voice. Spencer smiled softly, before laughing. "no. I just thought it'd be funny." he said, pulling away from Evelyn, going to his room to change in the comfier clothes as well. 'ouch' Evelyn thought, burying her face in her hands with embarrassment. she closed her door and crawled into bed, deciding to go to bed. just as she was about to fully fall asleep Spencer walked in. "what? you're already going to sleep? it's only.." he says, checking the time. "10:30" he finishes. "yup." she says simply, rolling over so her back was to him. "what's wrong?" he asks, sitting on the bed and rubbing her back. "nothing. I'm just tired." she half lied. she was tired, but she could stay up with him if she wanted to. Spencer sighs and nods, getting up. "goodnight caterpillar." Spencer said softly. "night." she mumbled, Spencer closing the door. Evelyn soon began to cry, not even noticing it until a tear fell on her hand. "stupid baby. making me hormonal." she huffed. she didn't know why she was crying. sure, she was upset the little gleam of hope that he had liked her was crushed, but it was definitely not a crying matter. she kept crying, her soft tear turning to full on sobs, Evelyn burying her face into her pillow so Spencer wouldn't' hear her crying.

TWO WEEKS LATER

today was evelyn's baby shower. she wasn't necessarily happy about having a baby with Michael Reyes, but she had always wanted to be a mom and decided to make the best out of the situation. her and Spencer were setting up, the first time they were actually able to be in her house for an extended period of time. they decided to have it at her house since her house was pretty big so no one would be crammed inside. since the night of the halloween party Evelyn had become a tad bit distant from Spencer, Spencer obviously not understanding why. "I heard you crying in your room on halloween." Spencer said, looking at her  as he set out the drinks. Evelyn froze as she was setting up the cups, not looking up at him. "something tells me I wasn't supposed. to hear it?" he said, the sentence coming out as a question. "just pregnancy hormones." she says shortly, going back to setting up. "right." Spencer says, not fully believing her but not wanting to upset her. people soon started showing up, Penelope the first to arrive, dressed head to toe in pink, routing for the baby to be a girl. Evelyn laughed as she answered, as Spencer had answered the door. "what in the world are you wearing?" Evelyn asked, laughing softly. "oh, I'm team girl." she explains. "I can see that." she laughs. Spencer goes outside, setting the final touches out there. "so are you two together yet? he likes you, you like him, sooooo" Penelope says, nudging her. "did he tell you he liked me?" Evelyn asked. "he's been eyeing you the entire time I've been here, and he kissed you on halloween and still jumped in the pool." she explained. "Penelope, you've been here 2 minutes tops, and he kissed me because he though it would be funny." Evelyn explained. "how do you know that?" Penelope asked as the doorbell rang, Evelyn going over to answer it. "he told me." she says, answering the door. once everyone was there they decided to do the reveal and then eat. as jj and Derek set up (it would've been Penelope as well, but that woman can't keep a secret.) Evelyn stood next to hotch, the both of them laughing as they watched jj and Derek struggle. "I'll be back." Evelyn said, going inside to refill her drink. to her surprise, Spencer was in the house as well, looking as though there was not a thought behind his eyes. Evelyn sighed as she walked up behind him, leaning her head on him as she rubbed his back. he looked at her and smiled, standing up and wrapping his arms around her and burying his face in her neck. "can I do the reveal with you?" he asked softly. she could tell something was wrong but she decided not to mention it. "I was actually about to ask you if you would. you've been here the entire journey so far, partly due to us living together. but regardless, I still really appreciate it." she replied, matching his softness. he didn't respond, just hugging her as tightly as he could. she didn't mind, she could tell he needed it. "Evelyn. we're ready." hotch said as he opened the sliding door to the backyard. "we'll be right there." she said, hotch nodding and closing the door. neither of them moved, Evelyn combing through his hair until he pulled away. "hey spence, you know you can tell me anything, right?" Evelyn said, looking at him as she grabbed his hand. he just simply nodded. "we'll talk later okay?" she said, Spencer nodding. she smiled softly and walked out, not letting go of Spencer's hand. jj and Derek handed out the poppers that had either blue for boy or pink for girl inside them. personally, Spencer was team girl, but Evelyn was team boy. her ideal situation would be two kids. a boy and a girl, the boy being first. even though that's what she wanted, she was happy and grateful for either one. "okay, on three, pull those strings and it'll shoot out either pink or blue confetti." Derek explained. "as for everyone else, as soon as you see a color, pull your strings." Derek continued. "ready?" jj asked, Spencer and Evelyn looking at each other smiling and nodding in unison. "okay. one.....two....three!" jj and Derek said at the same time, Evelyn and Spencer pulling the strings. pink confetti shot out, Evelyn and Spencer over the moon happy, tightly hugging each other.the photographer Evelyn had hired shot pictures in every direction, capturing as many creations as possible. "we're having a girl" Spencer exclaimed. she didn't mind. with how much he had helped out and been involved, it seemed like it was both of their kid. the rest of the day was filled with lots of food, congratulations, laughter, and everything else happy. Evelyn could still tell something was wrong with Spencer, but she pushed it aside, just like he was doing. a few hours later everyone had left, Evelyn and Spencer cleaning up and changing into their pajamas, deciding to stay at her house for the night. Evelyn collapsed on her bed, Spencer laying next to her, his head on her chest. " okay now tell me what's been bugging you all day." she said. Spencer had told her, Evelyn just listening as he ranted. once he had gotten everything off his chest he sighed, Evelyn running her hand through his hair until they both had fallen asleep.
