"grayson. up. time for school." evelyn says, turning on his light and clapping. "five more minutes." grayson groans. today was his first day of second grade, and grace's first day of kindergarten. grayson had taken after evelyn and hated school, although he was incredibly smart. grace on the other hand, took after spencer and couldn't wait to start kindergarten. "come on gray, it's the first day of school!" grace exclaims excitedly as she ran into the room. "woohoo." grayson said sarcastically. "daddy made pancakes." grace said, knowing that was his weakness. "i'm up." grayson said, springing out of bed and running down the stairs. "he didn't make pancakes." evelyn laughs as she picked grace up. "i know." grace said, obviously proud of herself. "grace you lied to me!" grayson called from downstairs, the two of them laughing as they came down the stairs. "i would make them, but i don't think we'd have enough time." spencer says as they came into the kitchen, grace wiggling out of evelyn's arms. "it's okay." evelyn says, kissing spencer. "gross." grace says, covering her eyes. evelyn and spencer both laugh, evelyn laying her head on his shoulder. "i think your son is in a depressive episode." evelyn says, pointing to the pouting grayson who was sitting on the floor. "hey bud, what if i make them so they'll be ready by the time you come home from school?" spencer said, crouching down so he was level with grayson. "okay!" grayson said as his face lit up, going to the pantry to get some cereal. "mommy i can't reach!" grayson exclaims, standing on his tippy toes to try and reach. evelyn laughs and picks him up simba style, letting him grab the box before putting him down, grayson immediately running to where the plastic bowls were, which he could reach. the milk was already on the table from spencer grabbing it for grace. grayson climbs up in a chair, spencer getting a spoon for him, helping him pour the cereal and milk. once they were done, grayson quickly got ready, evelyn quickly taking pictures of them in front of the house before her and spencer drove them to school. once they got there they parked and got out, walking grayson and grace to their classes before going back to the car. "holy shit." evelyn says, spencer looking over at her confused. "both of our kids are in school." she says in disbelief, looking over at spencer. "oh my god we're old." spencer says, realizing. thankfully they had the day off, so they got to go back to the house and chill until evelyn went to go pick the kids up while spencer started on the pancakes.
.....
"pancakes!" grayson exclaims as he comes in, immediately dropping his backpack. "hey! grayson, pick up your backpack." evelyn says sternly, stepping over it. "sorry mommy." grayson says, picking it up and hanging it up. spencer have both of them two pancakes as they talked about their school days .
.....
"goodnight gray, i love you." spencer says as he turns off the light and goes to the bedroom. he sighs contently as he climbs in bed with evelyn, pulling her close. "i'm so incredibly lucky i have you." he said. "yea right. i'm the lucky one." evelyn replies. "and why's that?" spencer asks. "because you love me." evelyn smiles. spencer smiles and kisses her before speaking. "what can i say? can't help falling in love."
