Evelyn had been living with Spencer for two months now and everything was going smoothly. although he was essentially a pipe cleaner with eyes, she felt safe with him. she didn't know what he'd be able to do if it came down to Michael Reyes finding them, but she didn't carse, she still felt safer than ever when she was with him. They would spend nights watching movies, playing games, or just talking the entire night, resulting Spencer having to have some coffee with his sugar when he went to work. Evelyn had officially gotten a job at the BAU full time, but she had yet to start. today was that day. she had been nervous about starting, but she knew the team would make her feel right at home. "good morning cater- what, you're still in bed?!" Spencer exclaimed, his voice getting slightly squeaky. "five more minutes." Evelyn groans, covering her head with the pillow. Spencer chuckles, setting the two coffee mugs he held in his hands on the bedside table. "we have to leave in an hour, 45 minutes if you want to get food on the way." he bribed, knowing stopping for food was her weakness. she immediately sat up, her hair a mess. Spencer chuckles at her appearance. "do not laugh, you're lucky I let you see me like this." she says, referring to her messy hair and makeup free face. "I think you look beautiful no matter what." he says, not realizing the effect his words had on Evelyn. "thanks. now get out while I get ready." she says, pushing him out. Spencer chuckles as she pushes him out, leaving his coffee int the room, knowing they'd probably get some on the way to work. 45 minutes later on the dot Evelyn emerged, fully ready, her outfit not her normal choice due to new insecurities she had formed from the scars she had gotten. "ready?" Spencer asks. Evelyn hesitantly nods. "hey, it'll be okay, I promise." he says. "I hope so." she sighs. he grabs her hand, squeezing it softly. "I'll be with you the entire time." he reassures her, Evelyn nodding. "okay lets go." he says, letting go of her hand as the pair walks out of spencer's apartment. since it was evelyn's first day, Spencer thought it would be a good idea to drive instead of the standard subway route he would normally take. they decided to stop at a cute little coffee shop that kind of looked like a small business version of Starbucks. they sat and ate, a comfortable silence between them. once they were back in the car Evelyn started to get nervous, and Spencer could definitely tell. "it'll be okay, you know them." he tried to reassure her. she sighed softly. "but they're also the last people I saw before..." she says, trailing off, not wanting to say it.he sighs and puts a hand on her knee. "he can't get to you at the BAU. it's a federal building and we know what he looks like." Spencer says. Evelyn nods, knowing he was right as Spencer pulled into the parking garage. once he pulled into his spot Evelyn unbuckled her seatbelt, sighs once again and gets out. Spencer stayed close to her as they walked to the elevator and going to the floor the BAU was on. Spencer had gone back to work about two weeks after she temporarily moved in with him and she would go watch Jack while the team was at work. luckily, all the cases that the team had gotten so far were local, so she didn't have to worry about Spencer leaving, although she was nervous for when the time came, because that means she would have to stay in quantize with Penelope, and Spencer would go with the rest of the team.. once they walked in, the team's faces lit up. they walked over to the group, exchanging greetings and jokes."where's hotch and jj?" she asked after she had noticed hotch and jj weren't apart of the group. "they're in his office, probably talking about a case." Rossi said. Evelyn nodded. "so how's living with pretty boy." Derek teased. "better than you would think." Evelyn laughs. "does he take up the entire bed and snore the entire time?" he continues to joke. "I wouldn't know, I'm in a different room." Evelyn says. "wait so you're telling me you and pretty boy aren't a thing?" Derek asks. "nope, just friends!" Spencer says cheerfully. "but don't you li-" Derek starts but Evelyn cuts him off. "oh look hotch and jj are coming out, must be a serious one." Evelyn says quickly before speed walking away, obviously embarrassed. "well that was weird." Spencer says, shrugging his shoulders as he follows Evelyn. "BAU team, round table, now." hotch says. "he doesn't know does he?" Derek says aloud "he's way too clueless." Penelope says. "and technically no one is supposed to know except me, jj, and Emily, well technically just me and jj since Emily is off living her glorious life in London." Garcia says, walking to the round table room. once the team go to the room Spencer and Evelyn were already sitting down, obviously right next to each other. "lets get started." hotch says, Garcia standing up to present the case. "sunny Los Angeles California." was all Evelyn heard before her heart dropped, realizing Spencer would be leaving her. "wheels up in 10." was the next thing she heard. 10 minutes? that's it? they all get up to get ready to leave. "Evelyn, can I see you in my office real quick?" hotch says. Evelyn nods, looking at Spencer as if saying they would talk when she was out. she and hotch walked to his office, shutting the door one they were both in. "I know this will be hard. Spencer can stay if you absolutely need him to, but only if it's necessary." hotch explains. Evelyn nods. "I'll be okay, he's an essential part of the team." Evelyn says. hotch nods. "if you decide you need him or anyone, don't be afraid to reach out." he says. Evelyn nods, and with that she left and went over to Spencer. "I can stay, they'll be okay without me." he immediately says. "no Spencer, go. I'll be okay. we'll talk every single day and Aaron said if I need you he'll let you come back. I can't rely on you for the rest of my life just because there's a serial killer on the loose that is targeting me." she says nonchalantly. "this will be a good thing. its a stepping stone." she continues. Spencer sighs, grabbing her hand. "but I want to make sure you're safe." he says quietly. "I am. I promise. I'll even text you every single hour from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed if you want." she says, making him laugh softly. "wheels up." hotch says as he comes out of his office. Spencer immediately embraces Evelyn in a tight hug, letting go a few moments later. after they said their goodbyes and he left, she made her way to Garcia's lair to help her with anything the team gave her. at the end of the day Evelyn drove Spencer's car back to his apartment, realizing how hard not having him around was actually going to be as soon has she stepped into the empty apartment. she decided to order some food since she didn't feel like making anything, sitting on the couch and watching some movies, making sure to text Spencer each hour, since he never gave her a definitive answer. she soon got ready for bed, deciding to "borrow" one of Spencer's sweatshirts (he's never going to get it back now). she lays down in her temporary bed, moving to Spencer's as she realized she had been laying there, not able to sleep for three hours. little did she know just how hard being away from Spencer was actually going to be.
