a/n: this take place during season 11, episode 11, entropy. evelyn is now back at work and doing much better.
"spencer, please be safe." evelyn said worriedly as she hugged him tightly. "i will, you know i will." he responded. evelyn sighs and pulls away, cupping his cheeks with her hands. "i know, but that won't stop me from worrying about you. she's a trained hitman, well hitwoman in this case. i'm just scared. she's really good." spencer kisses her softly, looking deeply in her eyes. "she may be good, but im better." he says. evelyn sighs, nodding "yea, you're right." she says, resting her head on his chest, still slightly worried. "hey, i love you, you know that, right?" he says, making her look at him. evelyn nods softly, looking up at him. "we have this place surrounded, and there will be plenty of agents, including you inside." he explains, calming her down. she nods, knowing he was right. "time to go" hotch says, meaning spencer's taxi was there. evelyn quickly kisses spencer, wishing him luck. "i love you, be safe." she called. "i love you more and i will." he called back as he walked out. evelyn sighs as he disappeared into the elevator, hotch putting a hand on her shoulder. "he'll be okay. now it's time for you to get ready." he says. evelyn nodded and went to the bathroom to get ready. once she was ready she got hooked up with everything she needed before heading over to the restaurant. the plan was for everyone to act as if they were just there either alone or on a date, or in evelyn's case, meeting someone there. by the time she had arrived, the only ones left were tara and derek, and thankfully, cat didn't know. "i'm sorry what? there's a bomb?" evelyn exclaimed quietly as she waited for her cue. "there are innocent people here!" spencer exclaimed, his eyes trying to subtly look for evelyn. "yes, there are." cat said, picking up on his eye movements. "someone who's special to you i'm assuming, so let me remind you what we're playing for." she said. "not only will i walk out of here, but you will make sure i leave safely." she continues. "evelyn go." hotch says, evelyn walking in, right by their table. "and from where i'm sitting...." she continues, once again picking up on spencer's body language as evelyn walked by and went to a table where she was meeting her "date". "it's her, isn't it? that's who's so special." cat taunted, turning around to look at evelyn. "nope." spencer says flatly, hoping she'd believe him. "don't worry, i'll make sure she walks our safely. as long as i get what i want, she'll be just fine. so from where i'm sitting.... it looks like i won." she taunts. "evelyn, she know who you are, be careful." hotch says. evelyn's heart drops, her eyes widening, thankful her back was to spencer and cat. cat then explains her plan, tara subtly getting up and going to the kitchen to explain the plan to get everyone out. "that table there, you leave alone." tara explains to one of the waiters, pointing to spencer and cat's table. the waiter nods, going out to start informing guests.
"look at that, there they go." cat says as the waiters begin informing guests. "look all we want to do-" Spencer starts, cat cutting him off. "minimize collateral damage, i get it." cat snaps. "i'm not mad, it'll give me the cover i need to slip out." she continues, looking around. "i just need to know it's clear, so do me a favor and tell your boss that nobody leaves until it's safe for me to." she says simply. "well?" she says, looking at spencer until he gave her the green light to go. she began to get up, stopping once spencer spoke. "but you won't." he said. spencer what the hell are you doing? evelyn thought to herself. "double or nothing i can get you to sit back down." spender said. "now you're stalling." cat replied, her smirk evident by how she talked. spencer tried to get her to sit back down, but fails. "i found your father." he said, cat stopping in her tracks. "no, you didn't." cat says, turning around. "look at my face, am i bluffing?" spencer says, looking at cat with a straight face. he finally got her to sit back down, stalling her until the bomb could be defused. "the moment i walked in her room, i saw it. for three seconds... she didn't know who i was." spencer said sadly, talking about his mom. evelyn's heart immediately broke, slender not even telling her, his own girlfriend, about it. "i, um, i had her tested that morning, and i found out that night, that she had early onset of dementia, most likely alzheimer's." he continues. evelyn's heart broke even more as she heard how broken he was about it. at that point she had stopped listen, not wanting to hear anymore heartbreak. "hotch she just armed the bomb." was the next thing she heard, her heart dropping. "hotch we may have a lead." tara said when hotch told them to leave. "she hasn't touched anything to arm the bomb." derek said. "that means the bomber's here, somewhere in the restaurant." he continues, looking around. soon they realized the partner was a woman, spotting who it was. "hey, you know what baby? let's get out of here. i'm not really feeling this place." derek says, standing up and taking tara's hand as they walked over the the partner. "really? i kind of liked it." tara replied. "i want to take you to a spot where we can do some dancing." derek says, grabbing the phone the the woman's hand, obviously fighting her for it. tara and derek took the partner, evelyn standing up, pointing her gun at cat, who was now standing, her own gun pointing at spencer. "ahh and here she comes to save the day." cat taunts. "evelyn go, it's not worth it." spencer says. "ohh so that's her name." she smiles devilishly. "i'm not leaving without you." evelyn replied. "i'm not leaving without you." cat mocks evelyn. "oh shut up." she snaps. "guess we're right back where we started. you and me with a gun." she smirks, looking up at spencer. "spencer, it's time." evelyn says. "no." he replies. "we don't really have a choice here." she says, spencer begging her not to say it. "we brought your father here." she says. "he's right outside. spencer though he needed every bargaining chip he could get." evelyn says. "i'm begging you, don't." spencer said. "all the bargaining chips to get you to do the right thing." she said. "how is this the right thing?" cat asks. "your father killed your mother, and there's no statue of limitations on murder, so you really need to think about your options right now." evelyn says. "if you shoot my boy-spencer, i will shoot you. that is a promise." evelyn says, beginning to get overwhelmed. "so that's why she's so special. she's your little girlfriend." cat taunts. "or if you surrender, you live to testify against your father." evelyn continues, ignoring her statement. "that's not good enough." cat says. "we can arrange it for the two of you to drive into custody together. then you can remind him of who you are." evelyn says. "if you give her this, she wins. don't do it." spencer says. "shut up spencer, i'm trying to save your life." evelyn slightly snaps, the beeping sound of a truck reversing coming from outside. "they're bringing him in right now." evelyn says. "you're really upset about this, aren't you?" cat asks spencer, looking at him. "this is what you wanted, isn't it? a chance to finally hurt the man who deserves it?" evelyn says. "they all deserve it." cat snaps. "cat, please." evelyn begs, overwhelmed by the situation. "only if spencer escorts me out." cat says. "deal." spencer says, looking at evelyn as cat tosses her gun away. evelyn carefully walks over to them, handing spencer handcuffs, lowering her gun once she was handcuffed. evelyn let out a breath she didn't know she was holding as spencer's walked out with cat, tears beginning to escape her eyes. "i wouldn't cry over him if i were you. he's just like all the other men." cat retorts as she passes evelyn. evelyn follows spencer out. "wait." cat says before the doors open. once she was ready, evelyn opened the doors, revealing an empty truck. "you lied to me?" cat says as spencer walked her in. evelyn waited for him to finish, sighing when he finally came out. "that was stressful." she said, kissing spencer softly, wrapping her arms around him. "ugh, gross." cat says as the door closed, spencer and evelyn glaring at her. "please remind me to never be the negotiator when you're at gunpoint." evelyn sighed, kissing him repeatedly, glad it went well in the end. spencer laughs as he wraps his arms around her waist. "can't guarantee it, but i'll try to be held at gunpoint less." he says, evelyn laughing. this, was just the beginning of catherine adams.
