a/n: short chapter"he did what?!" jj exclaimed as evelyn explained what happened. evelyn was now sitting on jj's couch, bawling her eyes out as she pressed an ice pack to her head where she had hit it against the wall. "jj, i'm scared of him, i've never been scared of him," evelyn cries, not knowing what to do. she suddenly rips off the necklace she was wearing, which spencer had gotten her for their one year anniversary, a tiny version of the picture of them in the hospital when madison was born inside, throwing it on the floor. jj sits next to evelyn, hugging her tightly. "how about i make you some tea, okay?" jj says softly, evelyn nodding. the two of them got up and went to the kitchen, evelyn sitting at the island as jj made her tea. about 5 minutes later there was a loud knock on the door, immediately followed by the doorbell ringing. jj goes to answer it, evelyn pulling her back. "please don't, i think it's spencer." evelyn begs. "he won't go away until i answer, evelyn. especially since your car is here. he knows you're here." jj says. "well at least give him this." evelyn says, handing jj the necklace. jj nods, going to answer the door. "jj! i need to talk to evelyn." spencer says frantically as soon as the door opens. "no, you don't." jj replied sternly, crossing her arms. "she told you, didn't she." spencer asks, regret full in his voice. "of course she told me! what the hell were you thinking?!" jj exclaims quietly, stepping outside and closing the door behind her. "we got in a fight, i was mad. i-" spencer starts, jj cutting him off. "that's no excuse to slam her into the wall, spence!" jj exclaims. "she probably has a concussion now!" she continues. spencer stays silent for a while before sighing and speaking up. "please just let me see her so i can apologize." spencer says softly. "she doesn't want to see you. probably not for a while. she's scared, spence. of you." jj says, spencer's heart breaking. "well can i at least see grayson?" spencer asks. jj opens the door, evelyn now on the couch, listening to the entire thing, tears running down her face. "no." she hisses, knowing he could hear her. "evelyn please! i-" spencer starts, being cut off by jj closing the door. "do not go back to her house. unless you're cleaning up the mess you made from
slamming her against the wall. and don't come back here to see her." jj spat, furious with him. "jj." spencer says says sadly, his voice barely there. "you should go, spence." jj says, opening the door to go back inside. "oh and evelyn told me to give this to you." jj says, giving the necklace to spencer. "are we over then?" spencer asks, his voice breaking. jj looks over to evelyn for an answer, evelyn shaking her head. "no. just give her time." jj says. evelyn gets up, wiping her face, although it was still very obvious she had been crying. "evelyn, i-" spencer says, once again being cut off, this time by evelyn as she appeared in the doorway. "shut up." she hissed. "i don't want to hear it. i know you're sorry, believe me. but i just need my time, okay?" she says, snapping at first but her voice becoming softer as she spoke. spencer nods, nod speaking. "we're just gonna take a break, okay? i don't-" evelyn pauses, not wanting to say it. "i don't trust you right now, but it's just temporary. i don't know when i'll be okay, but don't you dare think for a second that i don't love you anymore, okay?" she continues, spencer nodding. "okay. you uh-you need to go now, okay?" she says, spencer nodding once again. evelyn nods in response. "kay." she says softly, walking away from the door. "bye." spencer says softly, walking back to his car and getting in, driving back to evelyn house, cleaning up to broken glass before going back to his apartment, staring at the locket as he laid in bed.
