a few months had passed and evelyn was now 6 months along. her and spencer had mutually decided to break of the engagement for the time being, wanting to focus on their relationship. they had been going strong, shutting down fights as soon as they started and if spencer was being rough with evelyn he would immediately realize it and stop. today was the gender reveal party and both evelyn and spencer were team girl. evelyn woke up patting the spot next to her looking for spencer but he wasn't there. she groans and opens her eyes, confirming he was no longer in the bed. the bathroom door opens, spencer walking out, fresh out of the shower. "come lay with meeee" she says, patting the spot next to her. spencer laughs as he gets dressed for the day and towel drying his hair. "you have to get up soon. if i lay with you, you'll never want to get up." spencer laughs. evelyn groans and rolls over on her back, starfishing on the bed. "oh my god fine." spencer says, playfully rolling his eyes as he gets in the bed with her, pushing her over to the other side so he could get in. "hey hey hey! watch it bud, i got precious cargo." evelyn exclaims as he pushes her, laying her head on his chest once he was settled. "the baby?" spencer laughs. "yea, precious cargo." evelyn says. "what time is it?" evelyn asks. "11:30." spencer says, looking at his watch. "so glad we got everything ready yesterday." evelyn laughs. "yea, you're welcome. i knew you were gonna do this." spencer says. "hey, i'm allowed to want to cuddle with my boyfriend." evelyn defends. "yea, but then you trap me cuz then you don't let me get up!" spencer exclaims, laughing. "because you're my safe space, and also just because you're warm." evelyn says, kissing his cheek repeatedly. spencer laughs softly, turning his head so she'd get his lips. "i wish our relationship was always like this." evelyn sighs. "laying in bed?" spencer asks confused. "well, yes." she laughs. "but peaceful. not having to worry about anything happening to the other person. like we're the only people in the world." evelyn says. spencer sighs, playing with her hair. "that's what sucks about our job. there's always a risk of something happening." spencer says softly. "yea, i know. sometimes when something bad happens i think of quitting and becoming a full time mom. because then if something happened to you in the field, they'd still have me, but on the other hand, i don't think i'd be able to live with muse knowing that if i was there i might've been able to do something to help you." evelyn says. "oh. now i get it." she continues. "get what?" spencer asks confused. evelyn sits up, looking at him. "why you always try to help me even if it's unfixable." evelyn says. spencer nods. "there's that lightbulb i was waiting for." he smiles softly. "you do it because you care." evelyn says. spencer nods. "and because i love you." he says softly, kissing her gently.

"okay everyone! we're just waiting on a few more people to arrive, but feel free to start eating. there's plenty of food." evelyn says to the group of people that were there. jj and will we're fashionably late, most likely because of one of the kids. everyone did just as evelyn said, getting food and mingling amongst themselves. evelyn was talking with emily and penelope while spencer was talking with some friends from las vegas, the two of them stealing glances at each other from time to time. "okay, let's go." emily says, pushing the two of them over to spencer's group. "now you can stop making 'fuck me' eyes at each other from across the yard." emily says with a sigh. "we weren't do-" "yes you were" evelyn starts, penelope cutting her off. evelyn bashfully looks up at spencer, spencer shrugging back at her. "i'll be back." evelyn says, shaking her empty cup, beginning to walk away. "oh you know what? i could use some more as well." spencer adds, speeding off after evelyn. "spence, why'd you follow me in, they're gonna think we having a quickie." evelyn exclaims quietly as she pours herself more lemonade. "you know i wo-" "we're here we're here! sorry we're late!" jj exclaims as she, will and the kids walked in. "oh yay! just in time! we just started eating!" evelyn exclaims, walking towards them, giving them a hug. "everyone is outside, drinks and are in here." evelyn explains. they got their own plates of food before heading out, leaving spencer and evelyn alone once again. "you know i wouldn't do that. having sex can cause premature labor." spencer states matter-of-factly. "yea, i know that, but they don't." evelyn says, motioning to the door. "why do you care so much?" spencer asks. evelyn sighs and shrugs. "i dunno." she pauses. "i guess i don't want them to think that's the only thing we do. like obviously they know it's not and we know that too, but i guess it's the irrational part of my brain." she shrugs, looking away from him. "well, whether they think that or not, i don't care. as long as we know it's not true, that's all that matters. and plus, i don't think they would care if that was all we did." spencer laughs. "that's true." evelyn laughs. "come on." spencer says, intertwining their fingers and going back out. "hey, we're ready for you two." derek says. this time, penelope was able to help, but she was only allowed to buy the balloon and confetti (which came with both blue and pink). they got up where they were doing the reveal, spencer holding the balloon while evelyn held the safety pin. "ready? on 3. 1...2...3!" derek shouts evelyn popping the balloon, smiling and hugging spencer as soon as she saw pink confetti. spencer hugs her back and laughs, kissing her passionately. "get a room!" rossi shouts, everyone laughing. "i love you." spencer says softly. "i love you too." evelyn replies, kissing him once again.
