Fiftieth
:Chapter Fifty:

"Taehyung!" The high-pitched feminine voice had Taehyung stiffen the moment he heard it. He was dreading this moment; running into his girlfriend.

But that wasn't even the worst part. She wasn't alone. Hoseok was at her side, he too looking quite upset and irritated.

"So, why can't you answer your phone? When was not replying to me something you planned on doing?" Jihyun wasted no time when interrogating her boyfriend.

The aforementioned silently winced to himself and looked at her, catching both of their reactions to him. He wished he planned this out a bit better but it's too late for that.

He would just have to wing it and hope it was believable enough.

"I got caught up in something," Taehyung told. Off to a great start if you asked the teen in question.

"What?" Jihyun wondered, making a hand gesture for her boyfriend to continue.

He didn't think this far ahead. He had to breakup with her but he didn't want to do that in front of Hoseok and in the early morning.

"I— . . . I, uh, I can't tell you." Taehyung tried to sound confident but he sounded so off. He clearly didn't have educated answers to back up his claims.

"That sounds awfully suspicious." Hoseok finally spoke up, announcing his own opinions. That only earned him a subtle glare from Taehyung.

"Don't look at him, he's right." Jihyun used to back of her hand to hit Taehyung's chest. It was more of a pat and nothing that would cause harm. "Why can't I know? What're you hiding?"

"I'm not hiding anything, this is just not something you can't know." Taehyung wasn't making much sense and he knew that much. "Just drop it, it's nothing."

"No it's not nothing, Taehyung. You literally didn't show up yesterday and didn't answer any of my calls or messages. I was fucking worried about you." Jihyun sounded upset and it ached Taehyung's heart.

"I told you I wasn't feeling good." Taehyung replied without mind. "I didn't totally ignore you."

"You sending two messages isn't enough." Jihyun said. "I texted you a minimum of eight other times in which you should've responded to one of them. I wasn't sure if I was allowed over or not." She added on, crossing her arms over her chest. "So, again. Why didn't you answer me last night? What was so important that you couldn't text back?"

Without thinking, Taehyung blurted out the first answer he could come up with. One that would only make this worse than what it was.

"It was a surprise for our anniversary." Taehyung said, his eyes even going wide the moment he heard himself.

Jihyun and Hoseok both shared light gasps.

Jihyun suddenly felt bad for pressuring her boyfriend to tell her. She should've trusted him but trusting him would've gotten her nowhere anyways.

"I'm so sorry, baby. God, I-I just . . . I was worried and paranoid." Jihyun apologetically explained, opening her arms and taking steps forward to hug her boyfriend who awkwardly returned it.

"It's okay," Said Taehyung who was petrified. Great. Now he had to setup a fake surprise for their anniversary.

Luckily enough, the bell went off and Jihyun cursed under her breath. She quickly explained how she couldn't be late to her class and would talk more about this later.

Taehyung felt like he could finally breathe and recuperate but that was short-lived.

Hoseok hit Taehyung in the same spot Jihyun did, only his was much harder. He could see right through the younger and knew all too well.
