You know that feeling when you feel sky high because you're so proud of yourself and you feel like you've just made history, but then you realize there's more to it and then you realize that you didn't actually make history and then you come falling back to the ground? Yeah well, let's just say I have that feeling.
I thought that since the girls are dancers, maybe they dance at the same studio, or competed in the same competitions. But in fact they didn't. Just when I thought I was getting somewhere...
"Okay, Annabelle, if you don't tell me what the hell is going on... I don't know what I'll do, but I'll do something all right," Jay says sitting on my desk next to me.
"Nothing Jay," I sigh leaning back into my seat. "Just thought I was getting somewhere, but in fact I didn't. I'm just running in circles the whole time, but I know there has to be something, something so obvious yet so small that connects these girls. I just don't know what," I run my fingers through my hair and tie it in a messy bun.
"Okay tell me what you got. Maybe I can help," Jay says. He grabs his chair at his desk and rolls it over next to me and sits down on it.
"Okay, so these girls are all dancers. Professional dancers," I start.
"How do you know that?"
"It takes one to know one, Jay," I say giving him a pointed look. "But let me finish. Now, I looked at their dance studios and all the competitions they went to, but none of it connects them," I say. Suddenly another light bulb lights up in my head.
Jay seemed to notice. How, I don't know, but he asks, "What are you thinking?"
"What are the times that they were last seen?" I ask as I looked down on the sticky notes on my desk.
"They all were last seen around 8 pm," Jay says.
"Okay let's find out where did they say were they going to," I say. Jay and I called the people who were the last to see the victims. All claimed that the girls were going out, but the girls never said where.
"Okay, I have an idea," I say as I got up and grabbed my things.
"And what's that?" Jay asks frowning.
"Go see one of my C.I's."
"How's that gonna help us?"
"Trust me, it will." I say as I head to Sergeant Voight's office. I knock on the door and ask, "Sergeant?"
He looks up at me, "What's up?"
"Jay and I are going to go see one of my C.I's if that's okay with you. I think we're on to something," I say.
He nods, "Okay, as soon as you find anything, you came back and get us up to date." I nod before he dismisses me. I text my C.I to meet me at our usual spot in 30 minutes as I head to Jay's truck.
"You wanna go grab a bite quickly? My C.I said she'll meet me in 45 minutes, because she has something to take care of," I say getting in.
"Yeah sounds good," Jay answers as he started the truck. "Can I ask how is this C.I gonna help us?"
"She's really caught up in illegal clubs and dance spots and so on, so my theory is maybe the girls went to something like that and... I don't know," I shrug. I feel like I'm running around in circles, but hopefully I can actually find something when we go see my C.I.
"Okay, because they were last seen at more or less the same times at night, so it makes sense why you think like that. But where and who is the question," Jay says and I nod in agreement.
