What are we?

Two decades of pure boredom have gone by.

That's a lie. More like two months of pure boredom...

Yet, another lie. It was only a week and it wasn't as boring as I thought it would be...

What is it with all the lies I'm telling you today?

My POINT that I'm trying to make is, that a week has gone by and after so many begs and bribes and everything I could possibly try, Dr. Halstead finally agreed that I can go home. But on ONE condition.

I'm on house arrest for atleast a week or two, and then when I can go back to work, I'm only allowed to do desk duty. Which sucks, but it's better than staying at home for a month or two...

I was currently trying to get my jeans on and after many struggles, I finally got them on. Jay and Hailey brought me a fresh pair of clothes from my apartment. Hailey suggested I put the sweatpants that she brought on, but I never walk in sweatpants in public.

It feels like I'm wearing my pj's in public.

I grabbed Jay's necklace that he gave me, and that one of the nurses brought me earlier in the week and put it on.

I remember putting it on under my blues, just before I left my apartment to do the night shift with Jay at the theatre.

When I realized it was missing, I asked one of the nurses if they could bring it to me. I wore it under my hospital gown, not bothering to take it off at all.

Checking myself in the mirror, I gave myself an approving nod, before I limped my way back into the hospital room, where Jay and Hailey were waiting.

My leg is mostly healed, but there are still some pain here and there when I step too hard or walk too fast.

"You're wearing the necklace," Jay noticed immediately.

"I wore it the night of the shift too," I nod. He has this small smile on his face that made my heart melt.

"You sure you don't want the crutch?" Hailey asks, giving me the eye.

"My left hand is already in a cast and useless, I don't need my right hand to be too," I eyed her back. She just shrugged with a smile.

"Hailey," I hear my brother at the door. "Voight told me to come pick you up, I need to see a C.I and Voight said I must take you with- Oh hey, Annabelle and Jay."

I just chuckled. My brother is usually like this when he's stressed out about something. He usually just focuses on what he needs to get done and then does it and work on the next thing.

It sounds confusing, I know...

"I'll see you later, Anne," Hailey said, before jogging out of the room, obviously feeling the tension radiating off of Adam.

What is bothering him so much?!

Deciding I'll call him later to find out what it is that's stressing him out, I turn to Jay. "Can we go now?"

"Sure, I just need to talk to miss Goodwin, then I want to scowl my brother for taking my beer in my fridge last night, ask Natalie something and then we can go," He grinned at my expression. "I'm just joking, we can go."

I sigh a sigh of relief. To spend any minute longer here in the hospital, will be the end of me.

Yet, another lie.

He stood up and slung an arm across my shoulders. The small gesture sent shivers all the way down my spine.
