Breathe... in... out...

"Remember ladies it's podium dance, so every time the song changes, you move on to the next podium on your right," the lady that I assume is the backstage manager says. My heartrate is picking up at every moment that I'm standing behind this curtain. "When they call your name you walk up, smile and head to your podium. Keep a pose as you wait for the others to head to their podiums and stand completely still, when the music starts, you dance. When Mr. Owens points a finger at you, you climb off the podium and come back here, got that? And remember to enjoy every moment of it."

Yeah right. How am I supposed to enjoy something if I know that it's not really gonna end up taking me to Paris. My biggest goal now is to get myself chosen. Luckily, I don't think it would be so hard. All the girls around me looked like beginners or something, but nothing like professionals. Don't know how they got in though. what a rhetorical question/statement.

"Gentleman, I present to you our beautiful ladies for the night," I hear a man's voice booming on the other side of the curtain. He start's calling names and one for one the ladies here in the back start walking through the curtain. My heart is racing the Olympics at this very second. Breathe... In...Out...

"Camilla Wards," the man booms. The third name called now.

Breathe... In... Out...

"Olivia Harper!"

My heart stops. That's my name. Well, my undercover name, but still. It's now or never. Do this for the girls. For justice.

I pull the curtain and enter onto the stage. The lights are blinding but I still smile and walk over to my podium. The room isn't quite that big. All around the room are podiums set for every girl who will be dancing, placed in a circle. In the middle of the circle of podiums is where the audience are situated. I immediately search for any familiar face, even though it's very hard with the spotlight on me. In the dark I immediately saw Jay and Adam sitting around a small table in the other end of the room, opposite from me.

I smile even brighter and feel my heartbeat slowing down as I make eye contact with Jay, and the memory of our hug flashes in my mind. I straighten my posture and smile for the audience as I wait for the music to start. Soon the podium's were packed with girls. Owen stood up from his seat, "Thank you girls for coming, tonight is an honor for me, as I will be picking a girl to dance at my amazing upcoming show in Paris. But tonight we will be things a little different."

Different? What does he mean by different?

"Tonight the audience will get the opportunity to cheer at who they think shall win the spot, but I will still have my final word," he says. Okay, not so bad. It's actually good for me, Jay and Adam can cheer me on and get others to join in. "Okay, without further a do, let the show begin."

The lights go dark and soon I'm consumed into darkness and deafening silence. The music starts and on every beat one of the podium's spotlights turn on. Mine was first and at the light turning on I dance on the beat. I recognize the song almost immediately. No Lie by Sean Paul featuring Dua Lipa. I like Dua Lipa's songs.

No lie (Gyal we never miss)

Feel your eyes, they're all over me

Don't be shy, take control of me

Get the vibe, it's gonna be lit tonight

(Gyal we never miss, gyal we never miss) No lie

Hypnotized, pull another one

It's alright, I know what you want

Get the vibe, it's gonna be lit tonight
