68.Away from War

All the men of Birmingham went to war.

Brothers
Husbands
Fathers
Friends

All of them went to war.

But they left their wives,sisters,daughters,mothers all back at there households to die everyday in wait for them

It was expected that the war would be only of a few months or a year approximately but no.

It lasted four fucking years.

Four years of women running households,feeding children and waiting and waiting and waiting for there men to return back.

Dead or alive

The only girl that Tommy loved more than anything or anyone.

The girl that belonged to him for eternity.

Left alone she cried her eyes out every night in fear that he wouldn't return.

Polly would always try to calm her down but seeing her being so miserable broke her herself

She used burry her head in his shirt every night because it smelled like him.

Days and days passed and she started to feel like he was just a memory in her life  

Until one day she gets a message that the men are returning from war.

Her whole face lit up on the news and the day of their return she was the first one to run up to the station.

Polly and Ada followed behind.

They saw men coming out of the train.She saw many familiar faces and greeted them happily but she waited only for Tommy

She was starting to loose hope all of a sudden when she saw the train getting empty

She saw arthur and John walk out of the train and her face lit up with happiness

"Arthur!"she ran up to him and hugged him tight

"Oh y/n"he replied and hugged her back tightly and closed his eyes

She turned to John and hugged him tightly

"John"she sighed happily and closed her eyes

"I missed you so much"he replied and hugged her back

She pulled away and looked here and there a little but Tommy was no where to be seen

She turned to Arthur with a look of disbelief

"Where's Tommy arthur?"she asked weakly not wanting to hear a no from him

"Y/n"a familiar voice called from behind and she turned to see tommy standing there not believing that she was right here

"Tommy"she whispered and ran towards him and jumped on him hugging him tightly

"Tommy!"she cried feeling the familiar touch of him.

"Y/n"he sighed deeply like he came back to life out of the trenches and closed his eyes

She felt so relieved.Like the big stone on her chest was lifted away

"Y/n is this really you?"he asked not believing it again

She pulled away and placed her hand on her cheek

"It's me Tom"she cried happily and cupped both his cheeks

It really was her

He didn't take a second and placed his lips on hers wanting to feel it all again

Because four years from war made him dead inside but she was right her to bring him back no matter how much he would push her away

She placed her hands on his neck bringing him closer to feel him

All those years at war he never forgot about her.

Whenever he used to feel like he would die any second,her face used to flash in front of his eyes giving him hope to think that he would one day return back to her

Back to his love

Away from war.
