Sarah had led him to her place of refuge. To where she had moved into not too long ago, she had told him. It tracked, to be fair, with the whole constantly moving angle. She, on the way, had told him that she had tried a vehicle once, but after a close encounter with the crew, she stuck to buildings. Multiple exits, easier to defend, bigger, she said. And, Aaron could see why; tactical advantage and all that.
Still, from the outside, the place didn't seem much like that; if he didn't know she lived there and he just passed it normally, he would've guessed it was just a drug den.
Once again, it made sense. People tended to try avoid those things like the plague. And, from the outside, it didn't look like much; just a run down building that no one had touched in ages. They both stood outside, looking like they were gonna try pitch it to someone; hands in their pockets as they stood on the opposite side of the street to the building. Both looking at it, one with a look of slight fondness, and one that looked unimpressed with the raised eyebrow, but the eyes told something else; the person was impressed, a bit, just unsure of how to express it.
"You can say it, you know?" He looked to her, "That it's a good place. Be better then me saying it up here," She pointed to her head, letting a little - sad - chuckle out. Before she cleared her throat to cover up the sadness, the loneliness that it conveyed.
"It's smart." He gave her, and she smiled in thanks. And, if Aaron hadn't been told, that look on her face didn't really seem to belong to someone who was in this situation, or someone who was too innocent for this life they were living; someone who shouldn't be doing what they were trying to do.
Still, he looked back at the place, with some windows being too grimy, others smashed, the bricks seeing to be rotting and ready to just give in at any point and for the whole joint to just fall and become rubble.
As Aaron followed Sarah in, his mind thought one question; why don't the assholes who the avengers fight just come here, much less resistance. Besides, with the way the system worked, he doubted they'd even respond if anything were to go on down here...
They entered, and Aaron saw a wire on the floor, one he was warned about, and other wires that were more exposed, all leading to different places. These weren't wires for electricals, no these were wires for something else. There were a few around the place, some on the other doorways, others on walls, all easy to walk on.
All easy to lead to some grim fate, Aaron guessed. She was a SHIELD agent after all, and even if he didn't train there, he was sure they'd teach you how to survive.
Even HYDRA did that.
"Nail bombs were never the prettiest things, but they get the job done when you hunker down."
Aaron paused his turning around and taking the place in and instead looked to the woman who had place herself on a mattress near the left wall, "You not moving anymore?" He asked her.
She shook her head, "No point now, really. It's why I got all these set up," She said, pointing out the wires, "That, and I'm gonna need a place relatively close to them for when it comes time to getting my kids back."
Aaron did a final look around the place, before moving himself next to Sarah, sitting on the mattress next to her. He looked to her screen, watching her put a password that was way too long in; then seeing the wallpaper: Herself and two kids, all smiling and happy.
A happy family.
"Those them?" Aaron questioned. Sarah paused, almost as if frozen - as if she hadn't expected the question. She looked to him, seeing his eyes holding a softness to them; no anger in sight.
