If you would've told Rebecca Sitwell that she would be leaving base to drive to Coulson's location, only to then meet Grant Ward, she would've laughed at you. However, here she was, teaming up with someone that used to be a friend who was now apparently free from the organisation that brought her life so much pain.

It was funny, in a way, how far Coulson's desperation to keep his two youngest safe led them to the one that had hurt them both; one physically, one emotionally.

"So, do you think Skye had a good time with her father?" Katie asked. The two sat on Aaron's bed as they ate their Chinese.

It had been a few days, and a lot had occurred on both his own, and Skye's end of the line: Skye had found out that her mother was the one who took her on-board as a mentor. She had found both her father and mother, and was now able to have a meal for some family bonding time.

When she told the two (after swearing them to secrecy), she had spent a night with the two, talking and laughing. A genuine night to unwind despite everything.

With Aaron, he had learned more about his ability. As Gordon had said, it was like a manifestation of all the negative things inside of himself. Katie had showed him a few of the things it may be able to do; not all passed, but she discovered a few: the creating of blades and other objects could be done, but not hang around for that long without it tiring him, there could be manifestations of people from his past if he himself was in a dark place, he could harness the darkness into a ball that would contain an unstable amount of power (that one she had to step in for and help it not take down the whole school).

In short, everything was going ok on the powered people's end.

"I mean, I'd like to think so. But, I'm usually wrong so, who knows?" was the reply she received, her eyebrows furrowing at the self-deprecation coming from the boy.

"You need to drop that." Her voice had made it seem like the statement was an order that he was going to directly follow.

"Drop what?" The reply only made her more annoyed.

"That. That whole 'I'm usually wrong thing'." She pointed out, Aaron finally understanding what she meant.

"Did you?" he asked, her not liking that the fact that the two had similar defence mechanisms for this type of conversation. The one were somebody would call you out on your flaw, your response would be to instantly fire it back at them. But, for the worst of his luck, she'd done it too. So, no, she wasn't going to fall for the deviation.

"Doesn't matter if I did, I'm asking for you to stop it. I mean, it's peaceful here right? Your safe. You can train. Eat good food. Relax. That's the most important thing."

Her words made Aaron pause for a moment. Taking a break to fully digest them. Either that, or he was only digesting his food and faking the whole take words on board angle only to not make himself throw up from stuffing himself with food, again.

"They're sending him home, aren't they?" Aaron asked, meaning Skye's father. Katie sighed, knowing that he wouldn't let drop it.

"They have too. He doesn't belong here."

"How about we go out for a walk or something, take a day off?" She offered him. Judging by his face, he was not a big fan of the idea.

"Can't. We gotta train –"

"We will later. Or even tomorrow, it won't kill you to not have a day off." Aaron rolled his eyes at her words. She had to stop herself from doing the same action.

"Katie....I get it, and I'm thankful. But, that's not my world. Never has been. It's always been work, work, work."

"It shouldn't be, though. We had the night we first met and with Skye, for gods sake." She meant those words, by the seriousness of her voice, this wasn't a moment to just be ignored. She didn't want him to gloss over this one.
