So, it turned out that Flint was the last hope. With his rock power, he would be able to pretty much rebuild the Monolith itself, and that would be their ticket home. So, that was the brief version of it. Fitzsimmons had an in depth version about the thing. But, Aaron lost sense of what they were saying pretty much right away.
Flint moved rock. Rock took them back. That was all he needed to know.
"Whatever you're doing, do it faster. How are we looking?" Coulson said as he walked into the main part of the ship. Everyone was doing what they could to help mend it and get it ready to fly.
"Terrible, Zephyr One's been a crash site for more than eighty years. So, it's a mess." Fitz answered as he moved to another part to fix.
"We fix messes. We've been doing it for years now. Just, never in the future." Aaron was busy looking at different pieces of wiring, pushing a flashlight in his mouth muted him after his words. But allowed him to do what he needed with the wires.
"It's gonna be a while until comms are up and running. Plus, I'm pretty sure generations of space rats have lived and died in here." Daisy was busy fiddling with... Actually, Aaron didn't know what it was. But didn't question it either. It was something, that was all that mattered right now.
"Not to ruin the mood. But..." Jemma pulled back the sheet, as if pulling back a curtain, "Avionics are online." She said with a smile before turning to Simon, "When did you get so good with this stuff?" She asked, keeping her voice low so Aaron wouldn't overhear, just in case.
Simon leaned in as he answered, "You guys taught me a few things. Both figured I should at least try and be useful in some way –"
"We didn't say it like that, did we?" Simon rolled his eyes but held a smile as she shook his head at her slight worry.
"Can you promise that we didn't?"
"I can," he said, bringing his hand up as if swearing on a bible, "I, Simon Johnson, swear on Alya's life, that you did not say it that way."
Simmons nodded, satisfied. But curiosity did take over, "who's Alya?"
Simon smiled softly, "the reason I'm doing this again."
Simmons did want to ask more, but knew they were in deeper shit right now. She nodded.
Coulson's plan was simple. They were going to outrun a storm with the Zephyr. With May as the pilot, Aaron had little to no doubt that it would be true. But, he did think about whether or not the ship would take the beating.
"You are confident, despite knowing that this will surly end in your deaths?" Enoch asked, Aaron pulled the flashlight from his mouth and set it to the ground as he answered, "The Endless One hasn't really done any ending yet. So, I like our odds."
"...Right. Besides, we're not just gonna bury our heads in the sand while our friends our in danger." Daisy continued, grabbing a new piece to fix. Simon was working on his own piece. Daisy quickly looked at him as he did so. He met her eyes, both not really having anything to say to the other. He placed his finished piece back in place. Handing a new one to Daisy while she did the same for him.
Their attention was grabbed by Fitz, his wires sparking and turning off Avionics. Jemma concluded that they must've overloaded a thing Aaron didn't know the name of.
Coulson turned to his youngest agent, "How are you getting on?" Seeing as the boy had been working on the same thing for quite a while now.
"Doing great. Doing absolutely – Ow, fuck!" He cursed as she pulled back, his wire sparking slightly. He fell back, shaking his hand that had been shocked.
