Lisa opened her eyes. The pod was a nice space to be in. Felt familiar. Ever since she'd left to space, she'd been interested in them. In how they worked. How they kept life going. What where they made out of? How did it freeze? Was it a freezer?
All those questions kept buzzing around her head. Though, given how her attempt at science almost ended with her dying and/or having a voidout, she'd hidden herself away in here this time to avoid the embarrassment. Jemma was nice. But she knew she fucked up. Lisa, herself, not Jemma. Lisa fucked up.
She hadn't eaten today. Maybe that's why she was feeling cranky.
The material of the pod felt nice on her skin as she ran her hand over it. Cool, but a nice texture to it.
She wasn't training for fighting anymore, and Aaron didn't seem angry, so that was progress.
She sighed, best go back to...well, it wasn't 'work' as she didn't have a badge for - oh no, wait she did, she just couldn't find it.
Still, she opened the pod, sat on it and clicked her neck. It was nice, that space. Like a little room. All cosy.
"Morning," A voice said, making her jump. She turned her head, seeing that it was only Deke from the party. He was nice too. Patient, funny.
She waved.
"I, uh, I brought some snacks. Daisy was asking after you."
She tilted her head to the side, "She said something about computers? Said you might be interested?"
She nodded. She'd give it a go.
"Here. It's just a Granola Bar, but it's something."
She took it, undoing the wrapping, then taking a bite. It was ok. Not the best thing in the world. But it was nice enough. And the energy was there.
She brought out her pad, clicking her pen and writing in it, then hurriedly moving the crumbs away and held it up for Deke to read:
"Was I annoying with this at the party?"
"No, no. No, not all," he assured, "I'm glad I helped make you feel more at ease."
She smiled. He was sweet like Finn, but looked more like Poe. Daisy was Rey. Jemma was like Rose. Lisa was like background mechanic number 67.
She looked her up on Wookieepedia, it was an interesting read, the depth people put into background characters. Made her feel seen.
"I'll see you up there?" Deke said.
Lisa nodded. She felt better, knowing he'd be up there.
"Hey, monitor our encrypted channels and let me know if there's any back chatter." Daisy ordered a nameless agent, who only nodded as Daisy continued to walk towards the screens. Lisa entered, standing near Daisy. The woman gave her a quick smile, before going back to the screen.
Piper stood in front of the screen, gradually getting more and more annoyed, "You're not listening, I said re-task all satellites." Another agent confirmed her order and went to do just that, "This might as well be google maps" She sighed.
Right, Mack was still missing. Their boss was missing.
Did he ever pay them money? Lisa shook her head, she was getting distracted.
Daisy approached her friend and put a hand on her shoulder, "Are you sure you should be up and running about?" Her compassion showing in spades.
"With all due respect, Agent Johnson senior, if you make me go back to the infirmary, I'll mutiny." Well, she was honest at least.
