The Things We Bury

The BUS had recovered from it's brush with death and was now in use. Said use was with most of the original team onboard their home and flying to a new desitantion with a lead to chase.

Coulson stood in the briefing room, talking to May, "I'm unclear on how I'm stuck running the base and you're off to Hawaii." She said to her friend via video link.

"Don't get too jealous. I doubt I'll even see the tarmac. There's plenty of work to be done. Ward's still out there. Have you got a response from his brother?" He asked.

"He has his own men on the manhunt. We're politically toxic, and he demanded that we stay away from this case." Was the response he didn't want, yet received.

"They'll never find him. I'll signal a few assets to be on alert. How's Agent Morse handling Bakshi?" He asked. On the other monitor was footage of said agent interrogating the man.

"He wouldn't speak for the first eight hours. But she's working him. I'll send you any developments." She said, before moving onto another issue, "How's Aaron doing?" She asked.

"Desperate for us all to move past it and focus on finding this thing." He was the one with the bad news now.

"You could've told him to stay, you know? You are the director after all. He wouldn't disobey a direct order." May reminded him.

"True. But, you know him as well as I do, he'd find a way to skirt it. He's like Skye, tell them no and they'd want to find a way to do it. Hell, you try and stop either of them in doing something, you don't stand a chance." Was his response.

May sighed on the other end, "Just....keep an eye on him, "Coulson nodded. May went to cut the call off, but stopped herself, "Aloha." She said in a displeased tone, before doing what she intended to do.

"Didn't want to take a crack at him, yourself?" Skye asked as she entered the room, leaning against the holocom.

"Bobbi's as good as they come. My job now is to keep an eye on the big picture." He said, giving her a glance for a moment before going back to the screen.

"And you've found something to chase." Skye said, finishing his thought.

"Fury. I've been thinking a lot about what made him such a good director. His communications skills? Flawed. But he could always see five steps ahead. Which, for a one eyed man, is impressive." Coulson admitted.

"He knew his enemies." Skye said, looking right at the screen.

"And, for better or worse, he could think like them. Whitehall has a weapon that's unpredictable. But he's not. I won't wanna be in a footrace to stop him. I wanna be waiting at the finish line." As Coulson spoke, he moved to Skey's side of the table.

"Which is the city." Where, again, she finished his thoughts.

He swipped on the table, the image changing from Bobbi and Bakshi to a wireframe version of the city, "That's where I believe the Obelisk will lead HYDRA."

The Obelisk, aka the thing that killed Hartley and had the same patterns as Coulson's carvings.

"We grew stronger every day. While SHIELD clings desperately to a world it no longer understands. We will rip it from your hands." Bakshi threatened Bobbi. The others watched the feed.

The woman, however, didn't seem fazed, "I've read HYDRA's pamphlet," She said as she stood up and approached the man, "Didn't your mother ever teach you, if you're gonna talk, say something."

"I could go back to being silent."

"Well, might as well if you have no thoughts of your own. I don't understand how you can work for someone so..." She was interrupted by Bakshi.
