I had liked him for a long time now, it was not like I'm going to do something about it , it was a silly little crush the one which makes you all giddy one moment and one  you see them makes you nervous the other moment ,
with time it might wear off , I thought for the past  two years
Time was not helping me and as of some transition had occurred he was getting charming day by day , we passed through hallways , through exhibitions and even the field trips
every year , he was nostalgic, he barely spoke to anyone yet he was the most peaceful human I've ever seen ,
One Saturday when I was leaving the classroom I swear I had seen him outside my class holding his book, I wanted to greet him , we exchange glances but where only I smiled at him , he just looked at me , that Saturday as if by some miracle I had seen him outside my class , looking at me with his cat eyes , those sharp blades tearing my skin , I tried to smile at him but he didn't say anything , his face was a pool of ice , calm and still , he kept his book on the nearby desk and walked off

When my  senses kicked me in  , I glanced at the black hardback he had kept on the desk , when I held it , it was the same book I had lost one year ago , was my book with him this whole time ? I didn't understand but once when I opened it ,only my name was there inside which I had labelled  , but why he took so long to return it ? I kept the book inside my bag , it smelled like him , lavender and mint , once I was out of the classroom I hoped that the smell never vanishes wanting to bottle it up if I could , but the questions I had , had sprouted a new beam of doubt , he was always this mysterious, when I reached the parking lot without thinking I glanced back where I was hoping nothing to see and somehow I was drawn back , I could see his figure leaning against the maple tree , he was not far away , close enough for me to see he had a small smile , that's it , I was day dreaming he would never smile at me , he never smiled , I was hallucinating....
