Danica POV

I walk into the hospital watching people walk by with flowers and stuff. "It's Valentine's day," I grumble to myself. I get changed into my scrubs before heading down to the E.R. but I stop as I see a blonde girl talking to Alex. My eyes scan over her and land on her ass. I know that ass. "Lexie?" She turns and well enough it is Lexie.

"See, you even recognized me," She whines as she turns back around.

"I know you're ass. You have a very memorable ass," I chuckle as I run down to the E.R. I put on a cover up before running into the trauma room where Owen, Jackson and Lexie are. How'd she get here before me?

"Good, Dani, help Lexie and Jackson with the arm," He instructs as he leaves with the patient.

"The arm?" I ask confused until I look and see an arm laying on the table. "The arm,"

We all walk over to the arm and begin helping Jackson and Lexie. "Wow. Trauma room barbie," Jackson teases as he works on the arm. I shake my head but try to keep from laughing.

"So, Yang's with Hunt, Grey's with Shepherd, Torres' with Robbins, and you were with Sloan, until he dumped you?" It comes out as more of question which I'm not sure Jackson intended. "It's a wonder you guys got any work done,"

"He didn't dump me. He forgot about me. He decided that we were gonna start a family and didn't ask me. He forgot I was even there. He--he just left me lying in dirty dishwater,"

"What?" I ask confused.

"Nothing." She sighs.

"I'm pretty," I look at Jackson with a confused face.

"What?" Lexie asks, just as confused as I am.

"In my family, I'm the pretty one. You know uh, my eyes, and my smile, my body. I mean you should see me without a shirt on,"

"Yup," I mutter only for him to discreetly and lightly kick my foot.

"But my family is smart, driven, crazy overachievers you know? And they look like they're smart. They don't look like me which has its perks, except that my family treated me like I'm pretty. They expected nothing from me, ever. They never pushed me, never thought to. So I had to push myself, hard. I didn't even tell them I was taking the MCAT's until after I'd aced 'em," He sighs heavily. "My point is that you can't just change your hair. Okay, you wanna be unforgettable? You wanna not be mousy? You can't just change your hair. You have to actually change. I'm just saying,"

 I'm just saying,"

Danica POV

Once finished with the arm Jackson, Lexie and I run down to the O.R. "We saved the arm. We saved it. We're ready," Lexie announces.

"It's gonna have to be an amputation," Owen states.

"What?"

"There's too much devascularized tissue, too much contamination," Owen explains.

"Or we can push antibiotics and let the stump heel, but by that time--"

"The arm will be dead," Owen finishes. "Page me when he's awake,"

"They--they can't just leave it behind. We could move it somewhere else, attach it to a healthy zone," Lexie argues, looking at Jackson and I.

"Don't tell us, mouse," He says looking at her.

"I'm--I'm just saying you know, they could--" Jackson and I both push her forward so she'll speak up.

"Temporary ectopic replantation!" She states, causing Owen and Mark to turn around. "Well, you have--you have to keep the arm alive until the stump heals,"

"Yes, but in cases involving the elbow--"

"It's extreme," Owen finishes off for Mark. "He'll lose range of motion, grip failure--"

"He'll keep his arm," Lexie cuts him off. "He deserves extreme measures. If the arm is still viable, you can't just let it die,"

"Has that ever been done before? Above the elbow?" Owen asks Mark.

"I don't know but it could be done," Mark offers. "You could implant onto the epigastric and the uh, vena commitante. Give you a few days for the stump to heal,"

"I've never done one,"

"Neither have I,"

"So?" Lexie says. "After today you can't say that anymore. Okay, come on. I told him we would do everything we could. Do everything that we can,"

The two men look at one another before answering. "I'll call Shepherd and let him know. Grey, Avery, get ready to scrub in. Dani--"

"Not my patient. I get it. Have fun," I chuckle before walking out of the O.R.
