Danica POV

I yawn loudly into my sleeve as I walk alongside Alex, April and Jackson. "You seem exhausted," 

"I am," I grumble, scratching the back of my neck. 

"Late night?" Alex teases. 

I snort but nod my head in response. "I forget that the average female is probably a lot more flexible than I am," 

"Next time you decide to sleep with a chick, invite me won't ya," Alex smirks as we turn the corner, Meredith and Cristina walking ahead of us but in the same direction, it seems. 

"Oh shut up you perv!" I exclaim, smacking his arm only for him to laugh. "Remember how horribly we got along intern year?" 

"And look at us now, booking threesomes and the best of friends," He chuckles, putting an arm around my shoulder. I grip my stomach as I laugh harder, Alex doing the same. 

"So did everyone get paged?" Jackson asks as we head to the foyer. 

"It's that time of year again," 

"The chicks have hatched," I chuckle, following along with Alex's metaphor. 

"Is that some sort of code?" April asks as we come to a stop. 

"Those chicks," 

"Oh, first-year med students. Too dumb to find the toilet," Cristina mutters distastefully. Meredith and I let out quiet laughs as Chief Webber begins. 

"Good morning. Behind me stands the interns and residents of tomorrow. Today you will show them what it's like to be a surgeon," My eyes scan the group of first-year med students and my eyes widen as they land on her. I immediately move Alex and place him in front of me. 

"What are you doing?" He whispers. 

"That is her," I mumble, leaning my head against his back with a groan. 

"Today you will show them what it's like to be a surgeon. When you go into surgery, they go into surgery. When they have a question, you will answer," 

"Lucky you," Alex chuckles as Lexie begins assigning partners. 

"Fred Wilson, you're with Doctor Yang," Cristina raises her hand as to signal who she is. "Kira Donnelly, with Doctor Grey. Hudson Powell with Doctor Kepner. Camila Mitchel with Doctor Millers," 

Alex shoves me forward, causing me to almost fall. I cut him the dirtiest glare I can muster before putting my hand up. A smile adorns Camila's face as she sees me. Don't get me wrong, she told me she was in med school, I just didn't know she'd end up at my hospital. 

"Laurel Pinson," A gorgeous brunette pops her head out from behind Chief Webber. Alex and Jackson both mutter mine at the sight of the beautiful girl. "You're with, Doctor Karev. Edward Taylor, Doctor Avery," 

I look to the bigger man with long shaggy hair and a bit of facial hair and almost audibly laugh at Jackson's luck. "Have fun," I mutter but cover it up with a cough before going to stand with Camila. 

"Hi," She says giddily, shifting her weight from one foot to another. 

"I will be picking my Chief Resident in a few months," We all turn our attention to Chief. 

"The race for Chief resident is on?" Meredith asks. 

"Since when?" Alex and I ask in unison. 

"How long have you been evaluating us?" April asks. 

"Since your first day here," I watch as everyone's facial expression shifts. 

"We're in the pit today," I inform Camila as we both walk down there. I hear hurried footsteps and Jackson is beside me.
